... t yet over as we had to come back at about 3pm to collect the Visas.
So into the Kremlin again and more tickets to walk around inside the walls visiting the many churches and cathedrals etc. There were also some lovely gardens which were a bit of a surprise. All very interesting and it was a lovely sunny (hot) day to boot.
3:30 saw us back at the consulate and wonder of wonders our Visas were there waiting for us!

Train arrived at about 2 o' clock and so I had lots of daylight to find my hostel which gave me terrible directions and a blurry map. I was sick the last two days of the train, which you don't want to be. There was so escape. Just sat in my berth and had a messed up sleep schedule. Today I'm 10% better but just wanted to find my hostel and eat and sleep.
After getting very lost on the metro ...
... I guess sleep would be an exaggeration, every 30 minutes the train would lurch in the same manner a grocery cart hits a speed bump. Some background information on the Russian Railroad…they have over 120,000 employees in management alone, which is about 3 times the amount of employees Nike has worldwide. Similar to imperial porcelain, communist-era inefficiency and over-employment are the mission statements for the Russian Railroad.
Went to Red Square and Kremlin today as well as visited St Basil's cathedral. Regrettably the Red Square was being fenced off as they are preparaing for a military tattoo to take place there next week. However we still got pretty close and saw one of the bands practising. Bit weird to think we were standing near the square where we have seen such ...
... the Bolshoi danced and then a whole group of opera singers combined to sing popular arias and classics from Phantom , Evita and Jesus Christ Superstar. Magnificent. We also had some traditional Russian dance (modernised for more commercial tastes) and then these brothers who are acrobats did some amazing things and showed phenomenal strength.
With good company and fine food and wine a great start to the Champs and I am looking forward to more to come.
