Hey all, Sitting waiting for my flight to singapore, have had an awesome time in the Top end! We both managed to go on a 3 day camping trip to Kakadu national park, which is nearly bigger than Switzerland! It involved a lot of treking throught the bush in the heat and visiting waterfalls.. plus looking for crocs! It was definately a true aussie experience.. sleeping out in a swag with a croc inhabited river to the right and the sound of bush fires to the left! I also went to litchfield nation...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia commandercoolA brief flight over from Cairns and straight to our dorm at Chilli's Backpackers. Not bad for $16 each a night. First thing we noticed was the heat though. It was absolutely sweltering and the A/C in the room was a god-send. We only had a couple of nights here before driving on out of town towards Alice Springs so our first full day was spent walking up the coast to the old Gaol and having a good bit of fresh sea air in soaring temperatures. Worst thing was, you couldn't even go in the gorgeo...
Darwin, Australia danstravelworld11th August - Darwin So back to Darwin. Minutes after arriving at the Van company, we were being whisked to the local dry cleaners to throw everything - shoes and bags included - into their machines. We were told that it would take two days to do. Two days is two days too many, when you have nothing to wear. So they promised it would be done by 4pm the next day. Then we went back to the Van company who couldn't supply us with another Van (it would have spread more bugs, anyway). So they kindl...

Darwin, Australia hottubtourWe're Here!!! We did it!!! I know we've been a bit slack on the blog but we've had a lot to do and have no wireless internet at the moment. We'll fill in the gaps soon I promise. We arrived at Darwin just after midnight on thusday so I guess that makes it friday but you know what I mean. We had a really good flight from Singapore due to the fact that the plane was half empty and we could stretch out. We also had wing seats for more leg room which was an added bonus. This was the first of our ...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia katieandphillHi everyone!! Sorry for the long delay in between blog entries. Amazingly, it was difficult to find internet access camping in the outback of Australia, and it has been even more difficult to pull myself away from the beach since! After our camping trip to Uluru, Olgas and Kings Canyon, Jeff and I flew up to Darwin and got on another camping trip this time to Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. We had a great time! Our tour was alot smaller this time as there were only 12 of us, a...
Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia lastandiAfter having torn ourselves away from Cairns we came to Darwin. We weren't intending on staying too long here as we were planning on picking up a camper and hitting the road ASAP to go down to Alice Springs, but we had to wait a few days for one to become available and I'm glad we had a wee bit more extra time. We took a wee walk around first day, but with the sun absolutely beating down and it approaching midday, I decided to get in the shade, have some lunch and take a bus places instead. C...
