The staff were really friendly, and even though it was a 10 minute walk to the town, the location being right on the beach was amazing, especially having breakfast on the beach too. The wifi was not working which was a pain but we were able to use the wifi from the hostel next door and they were really nice too. The room was small and clea but the air conditioning unit was leaking and had no remote so we had to move a bench from outside to stand on in order to turn the aircon on and off.

On the way to Sao Paulo we stopped off in the quaint little village of Paraty for a couple of nights. The hostel was located right on a small and quiet beach about a ten minute walk from the village centre, meaning we could hear the rolling waves and felt sand between our toes whilst tucking into their homemade breads at breakfast.

Some claim that the Bahia is the heart of Brazil. Not for us to say either way, but with 900km of coastline, a thriving Afro-Brazilian culture, loads of 16th century architecture, and a number of world heritage sights of both natural and cultural designation, it's a place worthy of a few weeks, months, or years. Of course, we had only a few days...
