Stop 5

Just arrived at Chengdu after what I would call the worse train journey ever. We left Xi'an heading to Chengdu on a shity train that lasted 16 hours. Not only was it 16hours,I was on an hard seated aisle seat all the way. On route I seen a few passengers taking refuge under the seats to lye down, but after a quick pit stop off at the toilets …

We arrived in Chengdu in the evening and exiting the airport there were a lot more vultures waiting for pull a deal because Chengdu has many foreigners and is also a major launch site for other popular China destinations which I will talk more about later. This is the place where that 60 year old guy cut in line while we were waiting for a taxi&# …

Kung fu pandas

A travel blog entry by huishyjnr28

Chengdu was one of the more modern cities we went to. It was also one of the most social places and was the first time we experienced the night life in China and met a lot of good people.

The main attraction was the Chengdu Panda Research Center which was really good. It was like a small zoo but only had pandas. It main consisted of Giant …

An 8 hour bus journey was all that separated us from a group of the laziest bears in the world. As we made our way on the winding mountainous roads to Chengdu we were treated to another glimpse of the stunning scenery of the region but also to some of the devastation that is still evident from the earthquake of 2008 which killed nearly 70,000 …

Known as the land of milk and honey and capitol of the Sichuan province, Chengdu is a Chinese megalopolis and probably the most important settlement off the east coast. Despite its size there is little really to draw tourists here that is of course with one pretty sizable exception. Giant Pandas.

I really enjoyed my time in this place - really great vibe and helpful staff. The communal area was very conducive to meeting up with like travellers and comparing experiences.

I would highly recommend this place and ticked all the boxes for me.

This is a great hostel, I've stayed in plenty all over the world and this is one of the best. Good facilities, good rooms/beds, good location, good food/drink, good staff. I stayed longer than I'd planned because of the hostel.

Lazy Bones in the heart of Chengdu

LazyBones was great - comfortable quiet room - good bathroom - spacious communal area with outside garden for the smokers. The young staff were always helpful and knowledgable. Really convenient area - great food in the back lane - across the road from the Metro and close to busses. Walking distance from many places of interest. We soon got good at ducking down quiet lanes to avoid really busy roads.
