Buenos Aires, Argentina markrobsonWe finally landed in Buenos Aires on Thursday the 6th of Dec at 10:20 and managed to find and get on a coach to take us straight to the hostel - well we had to get off in the center of the city and then get onto a minibus to take us each to a hostel - ours was the last stop and took ages! We finally arrived at the Tango city inn hostel in San Telmo ... however.......we couldnt stay there as apparently we had to reconfirm our booking 24hrs beforehand... though they did send the email when we w...

... or flavor to Buenos Aires that is markedly different from many of the great European capitals and if parachuted into the heart it would be impossible to say with certainty 'I have landed in Buenos Aires'. It is a kind of hybrid of Paris, Madrid, Milan and London with a dash of Manhattan. Nevertheless, it is a wonderful place and we have been enjoying ourselves walking the sights and fighting through the crowds of shoppers looking for Christmas presents. Papa Noel is very much in ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina suenson_taylors... robot counting the steps in his head. Never mind!!!!!
We had a great steak dinner and all you could drink and then the tango got under way. Our table was right next to the stage so we had a really good view of the dancing. Tango has itīs roots in ballroom dancing which was brought to South America by the Europeans, but the Latin Americans soon added their own flare to the dance and Tango was born. It is a very complex dance with the legs of both people becoming tangled and ...
... plenty of time to do most of the things we have planned. The computers here are free to use for people on the executive floor (Thank you Sutter for all of those out of town trips!) so I should be able to post pretty much every day we are here. Take care everyone.
Funny thought of the day: Buenos Aires is supposed to be a fashionable city. Definitely the most fashionable and European-style city in Latin America. Lots of high-end designers have stores ...
... and
featured the best part of the tour...the all you can eat Steak
restaraunt. Before the waiter began to bring out 15 different meats we
found ourselves a table and felt truly out of place at the 5000
Michellin Star Eatery. It was something we would definitely been turned
away from at home, but our money was good here so we ate...and
ate....and ate.
Gary decided the next stop of the tour was the
cemetary where Evita is burried, me and Rolfe decided the tour ...
Another week flew by, but I missed Aaron. I write this entry at midnight on June 30, so technically it is July 1, so to catch up.
On June 16 I had my first Spanish class which were great and on the 17th I had my first day at La Boca. It was an induction day and a lady showed me around the streets and the houses – which you could never imagine in such a righ city – and the community's attempts to offer themselves and their kids a better ...
... ultra-modern city. After checking out the market, the two of us made it by Subte and taxi over to the airport. "Wait, but you said you were going to the futbol match?" Correct, we had to go to the airport to physically pay for our airplane tickets the following morning, despite making a booking online. It is moments like these that are reminders we were still traveling in a non-developed country. I would be reminded of ...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina chiapoe... actually house the coffins in full view. Being as respectful as possible we stuck our head in a few and found that they went down surprisingly deep with generations unceremoniously stacked one on top of the other. Evita's grave was alright, surprisingly understated. I dont know what we expected. Wearing out the shoe leather we walked across the city again to see the Pink House, the government ...
Buenos Aires, Argentina razandrich... are like taxis but private companies). We took the remises, though the most expensive option, because we read it is the safest. The cab driver spoke very quickly, and it was hard to keep up with his dialect, but we learned a lot from him. According to him, porteņos, or people from BsAs ...
