    Amazing

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Pay the extra few reals for the better rooms, the views from the window alone are worth the money!
Don't go here if you just want to stay in your room (aka boring) and chill, the place is so good that would just be a waste of money.

Che Legarto hostel has the best views of abraao, the main town, and out into the bay. It sits directly beside the sea, surrounded by palm trees, has a great social and seating area and it's breakfasts are excellent. Room 103 is the only one with a balcony out onto the bay so ask to be out in that one. It can be quite loud late at night so beware.

This place was so noisy, they seemed to stop serving when the last person went to bed. It was a clean enough place and the breakfast is the nicest we've had! However, it was just too much of a party hostel; but of that's your thing, awesome!

Could a hostel have a better view? Nestled on the far side of the bay housing Abraao, this hostel is swathed in palm trees and has a great decked veranda from which to enjoy the view. Good but expensive food... I paid R$27 for a bed in the budget dorm... Good mix of people

Beard: Arriving on Ilha Grande (IG), a 193sq km island with a restriction on building, no vehicles; the only way to get around is by boat or to trek through the Atlantic Rainforest. Home to a number of endangered species such as the howler monkey (we heard them screaming at us when we passed through their territory one trek) and a population of 1, …

    Brilliant Big Island

Its kind of hard to describe the two(ish) days I spent on Ilha Grande, but it is probably the best place (other than Araraquara, of course) in Brazil I've visited and one of the best places I've ever been to. If you go to Rio, leave and go here instead.
Got to the island using Easy Transfer Brazil, which was worth it for this journey (see …

Rio feels like a very long time ago, even though we only left 9 days ago. We've seen so much since we left. From Rio, we travelled to Ilha Grande (a grand island for those who aren't good at translating ;) ). The pictures had looked incredible, but we weren't sure whether the island would deliver..it did!! We narrowly missed a hostel with fire ants …

    Paradise

As we approach Ihla Grande we can see why everyone raves about it. A tropical paradise it is, with palm trees that sway in the breeze at the edge of the white sandy beaches, surrounded by absolutely clear blue seas and secondary rainforest covering the majority of the island. It's a wonder how it hasn't become overly touristy; there are hostels …
