Somehwhat better the first time around

A travel blog entry by adambrownell

We had booked our bus back to London out of Brussels based on a few things. A) We didn't want to go back to France so there’s Paris out, B) Amsterdam is a renowned natural disaster regarding 'last nights’ in Europe and is some distance away and C) Buses were the cheapest and Brussels seemed like a good shout.

Little did we know …

Kristen and I finally made it. We decided in anticipation of the trip we would not calculate how long we would actually be traveling. This way we would not be counting down the minutes until our arrival in Belgium. It turned out that it took us about 27 hours to get here. The first leg to Canada was fun and exciting. We were super pumped and ready …

Arrived in Brussels yesterday to what was my first 0 english situation since this trip began. After a little guessing and some pure dumb luck I ended up on the right train, heading in the right direction. I Dropped my main pack at the hostel and took off into the city. Brussels is actually the capital of Europe. The European Union has all it's …

There's a reason you don't hear about many peoples' trips to Belgium.

It's because they don't take them.

To be fair, we had a great week. I landed at the Brussels-Charleroi airport around noon on Wednesday, Sept. 1 after a slightly delayed Wizz Air flight. Let's get something out of the way right now - if I ever say that I flew on …

So, having seen the one thing in Normandy that was open we decided to move on to a new city in a new country. We woke and got ready and walked over the road to the train station. The first train was back to Paris, from where we would book our tickets to Brussels. On the ride back to Paris we caught up on our blogging, ready to post when we could …

Once we finally found our pathetic excuse of a hostel (Van Gogh), the following occurred....they had no booking for us, our room wasn't even in the hostel, the Wi-Fi was broken, the showers didn't work, the beds were cement, the breakfast was shit and we were in the Bronx of the city. Oh I forgot, and we still paid 20.00 euro each for the night, what a joke! I'm not one to normally complain but it was substandard.
