cheap hostel, small dorm rooms, very clean, friendly staff, FREE WIFI. 15-20min walk to city but nice to be further out as quiet and not a party hostel. enjoyed my stay here. rooms can be very warm if you dont pay the $1 per 3hr aircon.

It's not very close to downtown, but that is pretty much the only downside. (They try to make up for the distance with a free shuttle to the city center at different times in the day). Otherwise, it's cheap and the free dinner is nice, even if the options never change.

We flew from Melbourne to Cairns which was a three and a half hour flight. The temperature and humidity in Cairns was crazy, we couldn't cope very well so spent most of our time looking for ways to cool down.
We booked a full day trip snorkelling on the Great Barrier and it was fantastic. The visibility was amazing. We were very close to the …

Arrived in Cairns in the pouring rain expecting a large town, after a couple of hours we realised we had seen all the town had to offer. I don't think town / city means quite the same as back home! Wec got booked into our room. We stayed in a place called Bellview and although it was basic it did the job and the staff were absolutely excellent, ...

Our flight to Cairns was incredibly delayed so when we finally clanged and clattered our way into our dorm it was 3 am. Our hostel was superb, with just the right quantities of hippyness and homeliness, they even gave free wifi and vouchers for free dinner every evening.

Cairns town center is jam packed with cheapo eats, tour centers an...
