... the group Maná, you MUST listen. I promise you’ll be hooked. If you haven’t heard the sweet voice of Julieta Venegas, you’re missing out on something wonderful.
I experienced the Costa Rican Day of Independence and the week celebrating the Patron Saint of my neighborhood. That meant parades every day, concerts in the local park every night, and fireworks.
I spent six really fun hours one night making ...
... music.. all was available. Listening to the greatest songs of the past 30 years... chilling in the hammoks, climbing through the jungle, making fresh fish or just chatting with manuel about life... all this was just so special and not at least because of the effords Manuel made to make us feel comfortable. This one week was so very special. Meeting people like Franzi&Freddy, Nano, Adrian or Manuel and exploring the Central velley was definately a great the journey!!!
... to the south) where we loaded some of our gear upon horses. Watching the Bribri pack a horse is a site in it self, rice bags and cocoa nut twine does wonders for packing heavy machinery apparently. Then we finally made it to our home-base just across the border of Panama and Costa rica overlooking a wedding of two gorgeous streams with a misty mountain backdrop. some Jaguar tracks, and all the sweet cacao (cocoa) you could eat, which I ...
Gondoca, Costa Rica bassmanms... and months. All of them have at least a vague idea of what each is but for the most point only in sequence. Although I do not find it to be very creative, I begin each lesson with today is, tomorrow will be, and yesterday was. I do enjoy that it kills time and is a great way for the kids to review the days. My students are a very energetic bunch. My largest class of 14 happens to also be the class I struggle with the most. My 4th ...
La Estrella del Guarco, Costa Rica mmm.cafecitos... spree though. The other day I went to a movie rental place near my house. The first thing that surprised me was that I saw the movie "Taken" on DVD. For those who don't know, that movie came out in THEATERS just like a month ago in the US. The second thing that surprised me was the realization that ALL the movies were pirated, hahaha. They'd all clearly been downloaded from the computer. But I've rented 2 movies from there and they're both good quality, lol.
Heredia, Province of Heredia, Costa Rica angelalivengood... all you wish, but it will help you in the future. Have a Happy New Year. Tuesday January 6, 2009 On Friday we had a pretty simple day, but at night it was awesome, because Tanya who owns a house on the farm, set-up this sound system and we danced. Then we had dinner, then we danced some morning. We hung up ribbons and balloons. I made a torch. All you have to do is take a bamboo stick and stick rolled up leaves inside, stick it in the ground and light it. The bamboo ...
San Isidro, Costa Rica travellerdalton... Always consisted of the same horrible repetitive kind of latino music and plenty of dancing. There is one little bar on the island but the project itself is alcohol free and given I was almost always on night shift as were others, i think people only went twice while i was there and I went only one night. The beer was, well, beer, the rum was attrocious (soooooooo sweet but cheaper than the beer) and as soon as the word got out the locals all turned up and it turned into a ...
bataan, Costa Rica kimbos... such practice on many levels. The biggest problem I have with it is that it promotes potentially unhealthy marriages, as it seems like many youngsters will get married as a way to become independent from their parents. Having send that, one must always remember to respect the cultures in which they are traveling. As a result, I make my complaints on my blog. This respect to the daughter of my Costa Rican family, her and her fiancee seem really ...
Heredia, Costa Rica gregellis72... and I showed up and the school chaperon, Jose, led us on a long walk to a very small sushi bar. Believe it or not, it was quite good and quite within reason. I have not slept well all week and haven't felt all that great either. I guess maybe it is time to get back home and to my old routine, whatever that may be as my whole life is in the midst of changing. I did get to watch the Colts game Monday night ...
