A Day of Errands in Puerto Varas

A travel blog entry by davidandmaria on Nov 10, 2014

David decided to sleep in this morning while Maria went for an early breakfast at Cassis with Carlee and Andy. The breakfast menu was good - a croissant filled with Philadelphia cheese & smoked salmon, eggs with bacon, orange juice and real coffee; and all that was just for one person.

We needed to get some Argentinian pesos before we …

After a quick breakfast we headed out across town to the bus stop for the 8:30am service to Petrohué and Parque Nacional Vicente Pérez Rosales. The park protects 251,000 hectares including numerous celestial lakes and snow-capped volcanoes dominating the skyline.

The weather was beginning to clear as we drove around Lago Llanquehue before …

We were heading back to Puerto Varas today. We had booked front row seats on the 11:40am bus so we had luxury of a lazy morning at the hotel. The bus journey was comfortable and we had slightly better views because the sun had finally come out.

We had arranged to return to Casa Azul so it was easy to retrace our steps from the bus station …

Yet Another Border Crossing into Chile

The alarm went off way too early, the sun was only beginning to rise but it was a beautiful clear day and we were in two minds as to whether we could have taken the cruise/bus trip instead of just the bus. We were saving heaps of money not doing the cruise, but there was still the doubt that it might have been awesome.

    Too late to change …

Today we flew from Santiago to the Patagonian port city of Puerto Montt. It was founded by German immigrants in 1853. We traveled through the countryside of Patagonia to Puerto Varas. Along the way we stopped for lunch at a German restaurant. Th...
