... of the Diving God in the central precinct of the site. Above the entrance in the western wall a stucco figure of the “diving god” is still preserved, giving the temple its name. A mural can still be seen on the eastern wall that resembles that of a style that originated in highland Mexico, called the ...

... and I wasted 200 pesos going back and forth, and am unfortunately stuck in Cozumel now. Of course the only reason I am really here is to dive, and I am doing that tomorrow! The reefs of Cozumel are some of the best in the world to explore, you can read about them in any dive book. So right now the plan is to dive, and if I have to leave Cozumel early, oh well. But I would like to do some couchsurfing now, as I'm tired of paying for hostels. RYAN UPDATE: ...

I was sooo sick (turned out to not be Malaria.. like I may have thought briefly for a day.. but I think it was like the chest infection from hell...still hacking and coughing.. the man in front of me on the plane loved it I'm sure) and she brought me blankets, turned off my air con and ...

... for the day, Mario and Julio, and then headed straight to the "big pool," (i.e. the Gulf of Mexico!) But, not before getting a margarita to take into the water with us! Britt chose Dos Equis beer. I found out today that there actually IS a downside to crystal clear water- you can see the hundreds of fish swimming around your ankles!! Yikes! Mike even saw an 12-18 inch barracuda! The actual swimming pool was ...

... all jumped up racing to the chair. I guess all except me. I jumped up and in my attempt to turn was unable to steady myself due to the waves and I flopped onto the bench hitting my head on the boat! Geesh. Great start to the day. With my head spinning I made it to the back of the boat where Kady was finished reeling in a decent sized horse eye fish. After that they all seemed to come to us. We made our way farther and farther from the coast into some shallower areas that ...

This is a fantastic little hostel with very friendly staff and a fantastic atmosphere. There is bucket loads of space for relaxing and a cheap but excellent dinner option. The room was clean and the bathroom top notch. The beach is easy to get to by bus or taxi and the staff gave us all sorts of recommendations as to where to go and eat both in Playa del Carmen and in the surrounding area.

Casa del Shiva is a nice place to chill whilst in Playa del Carmen. The entire place is kept very clean, and the manager makes a fantastic breakfast each day. Internet access is also good. The combination of the beach and the pool at the house makes for a relaxing place to stay. Whilst it is not a quick walk to the main strip, it is good to get away for the tourist strip and the local transport "collectivos" are very easy and cheap to use.
