We spent our first 4 days in Cairns. Unfortunately there wasn't much to do here. It's certainly a backpackers paradise. There isn't a beach in Cairns but a large Swimming Lagoon. I think Cairns is mainly a stop off point for people travelling to likes of Cape Tribulation. Lots of restaurants and a few bars but we soon got a bit bored here.
