Cape Trib: where the Rainforest meets the Reef

Oh my gosh this place is amazing! Right where you leave the oldest rainforest in world and literally walk onto the beach to see the Great Barrier Reef, the only place on earth where two World Heritage Listed places lay side by side. It is a peaceful little spot where you can disappear to, with no mobile reception you can get lost in this dreamy …

Our last journey. Pick up 7.50 am destination - Cape Tribulation - the Rainforest. We drove through Port Douglas then stopped at a huge river. Ferry takes the bus across whilst we go on a boat up the river looking for crocodiles. Unfortunately tide was high so did nt see any. Then driven into the rain forest. We are staying in Cape Trib Beach houses …

Where the Rainforest meets the Reef

Before I left Scotland all those months ago, my older brother very kindly gave me a guide book on Australia which I have followed to the letter whilst travelling the East Coast, mainly due to its no nonsense writing style and its ability to outline the places to embrace, and those to avoid like the plague. And it has never let me down. Regarding …

Rainforest meets Reef!

Even vergeten..

The room was average, clean and basic. Not much to do around the resort. Restaurant was expensive and the activities weren't cheap.

It is a little farther away from everything else but so worth it. Beautiful place, with private beach access. Wish I could have stayed longer!

    Free Upgrade :-)

We got a free upgrade and so had en-suite bathroom for the first time in months. The food in the restaurant was good and the bar wasn't too expensive. Rooms were clean and well presented. The only downside was that the bugs were ferocious. Not the accomodations fault but something that you need to be aware of if you are visiting Cape Tribulation.

    Out at the end

The dorm rooms are basic, and the running water in another building about 5 mins away. The kitchen was lacking in equipment, but clean. The premium dorms are worth the price, as they have a bathroom. The restaurant was a bit steep, and it's about 1 hour walk to any store. The cabin surroundings are green and attractive, with winding paths. The beach is 5 mins from the cabins, but not visible from the resort. The pool was shaded and a bit cool, but clean.
