Welcome to Rio

A travel blog entry by nadan92

We've arrived! After a long flight (managing to watch 4 movies and a couple of shows) we arrived in Rio!! Absolutely exhausted we queued to get through passport control, the HUGE line went a lot quicker than expected, maybe we didn't realise because we were tired or maybe due to excitement that we we're actually here now! We were both very worried …

Arrivée à Rio

A travel blog entry by benjaminfavre

Me voilà donc arrivé à Rio, 19h30 heure locale. Après 12h d'avion, l'aventure commence. 1ère question, comment aller à l'hôtel ? Taxi... Trop facile. Avec les conseils d'un type très sympa à l'aéroport, je décide (plus ou moins volontairement) de prendre le bus, ça a le mérite d'ê …

Day 1 - From Lapa to the Copacabana

A travel blog entry by kano-n-kirky

Woke up in an 18 bed dorm in the Manga Hostel after our first night stay. Nice enough hostel but there wasnt enough space to keep us another night. So we got up and made the most of the Lapa District before we had to move on.

First impression of the Lapa was it was so colourful with all the art/vandalism on all the walls along the streets …

More Rio

A travel blog entry by jackbuesnel

Myself and Dom have been in Rio for a few days now and explored a lot of the city! Done a hell of a lot of walking as well as experienced the metro. Seen a lot of nice places, and a few not so nice. I do like the city, but the fear of being mugged is constant. While walking around the lake we were warned by a man that kids of bikes were going …

Day 1. Monkeys from the hostel window

A travel blog entry by caterobinson

Not sure where or how to day, not even over and I feel like I have seen so much. No monkeys yet though, although the warning not to feed them out the hostel window has me hopeful. Started the day feeling pretty old...ridiculous I know but I seem to be surrounded by 18-24 year olds... I am not sure how i feel about this! I guess the clue …

We had a fun stay here during carnival - shame about the massive bed bugs, the air conditioning that didn´t work, and the rude hostel management.....all in all, a bit of a kick in the teeth considering the extortionate rates they charged for the carnival package.
