City of God
Well after hearing various horror stories about Rio I tried to keep an open mind on our way there. It was a cold and wet journey from Ihla Grande and I was hoping for some serious sunshine! We arrived at our very nice hostel in Copacabana. The hostel was in a secure community with a police station right at the bottom and 5 mins walk from the beach …
The Samba Legend
We woke up completely knackered had a bit of breako and got our first taste of Rio De Janeiro by walking down the hill from the hostel and towards the world famous Copacabana beach. We walked down the busy streets with huge numbers of people around between the tall ugly apartment buildings and it would be fair to say our dreams were not quite being …
Jesus it's cloudy
I woke up feeling extremely tired at about 10am then again we had probably managed about 6 hours in a Caprinha coma. I had a small piece of melon but couldnt really fit anything else in despite yesterdays lack of food, I think it is a temperature thing. We immediately headed out to a bar with some new friends, Youssef who was also staying in our room and Emma another …

Started the day feeling pretty old...ridiculous I know but I seem to be surrounded by 18-24 year olds... I am not sure how i feel about this! I guess the clue …

We had a fun stay here during carnival - shame about the massive bed bugs, the air conditioning that didn´t work, and the rude hostel management.....all in all, a bit of a kick in the teeth considering the extortionate rates they charged for the carnival package.
