Day 129 - Surfer's Paradise to Byron Bay.

We lost an hour today as the time zones are different in NSW and QLD. Okay so Byron is actually even more expensive to stay at than Surfer's Paradise, but we could see what all the fuss is about as soon as we arrived. The town is buzzing, the hostel beautiful and the beach is gorgeous. We spent the whole afternoon in the sea, body boarding and …

Road trip is go!

I am having the BEST week! The road trip is so much fun, have laughed so so much but we're all tired too. For the last two nights we've been in hostels which has felt like a luxury after camping all week! Hot showers, beds, warmth (though when we were camping I was the only one who was BOILING every night) and readily available food and water. SO …

Byron Bay - As Alternative as MTV!

I arrived in Byron Bay late on Saturday evening with two Danish guys I'd acquired enroute from Coffs Harbour. It was pitch dark and lashing with rain and the general consensus was that the forecast was yet for more wet weather. Typical. On first impressions from what I could see through the bus window was that Byron Bay was a main drag of clubs, …

This was my first YHA ever and I was so disappointed. The rooms were crowded and not enjoyable. Also, my food god stolen. When you come back from a major hike you are really looking forward to a nice meal.... The pool was not inviting and it is a very partying hostel. The staff was not nice either, it really put a shadow on my YHA experience, but thankfully the rest of the YHA were awesome!
