A nice place, very close to the beach and out of the Byron Bay centre. I like it that way! Clean rooms, nice staff, a nice café-restaurant close by, and a free shuttle bus to the city centre, running about every hour. One can also walk following the beach, lovely!

It was strange to leave Sinnamon Park and the dogs, staying there a full 4 weeks made it like a “home”. Like always, when I stay too long at a same place I do not want to move anymore. Difficult to get away from a certain comfort!

But then again, so many places to discover! So I forced myself in a positive state of mind, …

Hey there! How ya going? It's hard to believe I have only been in Australia for a week. I've done so much already, it feels like longer. Let's catch up:

My flights were good, but became more unpleasant as I went. The first long-haul, from Vancouver to Tokyo, was great. I had a great seat, and the plane was very high-tech! Touch screens for …

Next stop was Byron Bay, eager to spend more time relaxing here than our short stint after Bluesfest two years prior. The hostel we stayed in was quite funky and only meters from the beach. We loved the hammocks, perhaps a little too much as we found ourselves waking with a jolt at 2am one morning still swinging away.
While the weather and surf …

... the mind was fairly hideous but good fun. We went there with a couple of Canadian guys who were sharing our hostle rooms - Mike an Danny. A lot of air guitar and bad singing went on that night and Kathleen nearly peed her pants...Jackie was convinced she should try to get down da trapdoor and discovered she was wearing a ferrari did not work... We also met Bernardo the Brazilian, Kathleen seemed to feel the need to emphasise he wis fae Brazeel - a lot.

A very early start today. We got up at around 5am to watch the sunrise on the beach with a cuppa (and relieved to have gotten away with a free night). The police did turn up bright and early hoping to catch any campervans out, but we were way ahead of them. We were drinking our tea and coffee by the time they arrived so they didn't bother us. The surf was a bit small so we jumped back in the van to head for ...
