With class canceled on Friday, we set off Thursday evening for Poznań. As would be the theme of the trip, we had a little trouble with the train and had to take a more expensive/express train an hour later than we planned. But that was okay, because we got there around 7pm or so.

At 12:30 this morning we were awakened with a very loud alarm.. I thought it was a police, ambulance or fire truck. Buuuuuttttt it was the hotels fire alarm. It wouldn't stop. I finally got dressed and went out to see if anyone was at the desk. Poor gal was on the phone with someone and at the control box trying to get it stopped. No fire so we were safe. Kids opened their eyes a bit and went back to sleep. ...
... into the hotel. We were just going to eat at the hotel restaurant but there was no one there which was very discouraging so we walked into town. We wanted to eat early on Euro standards so most places weren't open yet and Grandma and Abby were very hungry. After a couple minutes we finally found one and stopped to eat. I had duck which was very good. All of these made for a good uneventful ...
Today we took a train to Poznan Poland in 1st class. It is very dirty and there is lots or graffiti on the walls. The people are lots more friendly and welcoming then all the other cities have been. I M excited for tomorrow because we get to go to wloclawek poland and see are family that I have never met in my hole life. This will be the 70th anniversary for seeing them. Also I get to see my dad tomorrow and then the next day we get to see ...
... The seat backs were really high and we had plenty of space for our backpacks inthe overhead racks or under the seats - a decided advantage. I will never travel on trains llike this with a suitcase.
As usual, the Smith Family had a three course brunch from their trusty lunch pack, much to the amusement of others. Who says actions don't speak louder than words. Nobody offered a word in English so it is assumed they either ...

Cute and homey - I felt like I was in my own dining room for breakfast. Everything was really clean and nice. I really recommend it.
