    Great hostel

Great hostel walking distance from train station. Amazing rooftop kitchen and eating area. Room was clean and had all we needed. Staff very helpful when we needed advice as to where to go to watch the Melbourne Cup and in regards to public transport to get us to the port where our cruise ship was to leave the next day. Downstairs cafe was a great place for coffee and breakfast but very busy when we were there.

Large, clean, great facilities. Love the rooftop. They even got a little herb garden free for grabs. A little bar just downstairs. Conveniently located with markets just around the block. Walking distance to the Roma Street Train Station and the XXXX Brewery. Friendly crowd. Not too loud.

Super value but a little noisy!

The only faults we could possibly give our stay at this hostel were that the trains going past were very close so very noisy and that we didn't have an en-suite bathroom. But these really didn't detract too much from our stay! The hostel was so clean and comfortable, and the staff super friendly and helpful! Only a short walk into Brisbane & 5 minutes away from the Transit Centre! Would definitely stay here again!

It is new, and beautiful, and state of the art!

This is a state of art facility but it has noise issues. The halls at night magnify the smallest of sounds. Not a restful place. In addition, staff let people check in the middle of the night into shared rooms disturbing sleep of all. Kitchen is great but a shortage of cups, storage space in fridges. Otherwise, conveniently located, and has everything you could ever want.

This YHA hostel is very new and modern. The showers are clean and big, the rooms are big and have AC. The lockers are really big too so if you have a big suitcase, don't worry! The staff is wonderful and the activities are always fun to join in. The location is perfect and easy to get too. I definitely recommend this YHA!

Melbourne Cup in Brisbane Via Winton

"The Melbourne Cup is the day before we sail for Papua New Guinea" I observed out loud perusing the map and calendar balanced together on my lap, as we bumped along the Plenty Highway. "Highway" is a rather ambitious name. The unsealed road begins at a turnoff from the Stuart Highway 68 kilometres north of Alice Springs, and finishes at …

By the time I arrived at my next YHA, it was late afternoon so I dumped my stuff in the room (damn top bunk again) and headed out towards the Southbank. There's a lovely boardwalk down past thr GOMA, QPAC and another number of new buildings since this area is quite recently developed. I settled on sliders at Live Fire Steak Bar overlooking The …

„You know, Brisbane is a lazy City" ist eine der ersten Aussagen die ich in Brisbane von einer Australierin gehört habe. Brisbane ist für eine Grossstadt wirklich nicht so aufregend wie erwartet. Die grosse Flaniermeile am Fluss entlang ist sehr gemütlich und die vielen Cafés laden zum Verweilen ein. Nachher führt eine Fussgängerbrücke über …

It was very strange arriving in Brisbane and being back in a city after a month of being by the beach. In a way, it did feel like I could just be back in London. And the temperature has definitely dropped as I've headed down the coast - goodbye tan! I must admit like any city the shopping was good there although being the traveler I am, it was all …

I decided to make my first stop in Brisbane. Although my bus pass start from Byron Bay, but I've already been to the Gold Coast I didn't wanna waste any more time. So after 4.5hr with a 3hr layover in Sydney I've arrived in Brisbane. I've already been in Brisbane once before for a quick stop, so I remembered to take the AirTrain right outside the …
