... There's about six vantage points that you can reach via stairs and walkways and I visited them all and took dozens of photos. The stairs and walkways were covered in snow and ice but the sun was shining, and despite it being zero degrees it felt warmer because it was very still. Next I returned to Chamonix and we headed for Switzerland. We didn't know too much about Switzerland so made a uneducated decision to head for the city of Lausanne which ...

... roads made for driving before we hit..Germany. And the world slowed down. Autobahn? Don't make me laugh. Every time we hit a German motorway we slowed to a virtual halt. I was looking forward to driving at 120mph but never got past 90mph and then only for a couple of minutes. We'd hit no traffic at all until we hit Germany. We arrived in Zurich with expectations and all of them were met with disappointment. Impressions of Zurich. Brown, bland, uninspiring. It was difficult to find a park. In the end we found somewhere and had to ride about 6 km back into town to have a look around. We rode along the lake into Zurich and it was a cloudy old day which may not have helped but it all seemed so dull and lifeless after where we had been. Hence we only spent a couple of hours looking around before ...

... with a variety of activities such as tennis courts. The Swiss love tennis courts and pools! The country side here is very flat. The town of Bregenz is quite large, with the hills and mountains meeting the lake. We walked through the main section of the town on our way to the cable car, about a 20 min walk from the station. ( we should have gotten off at the next stop Bregenz Haven) but it allowed us to see part of the town in the main square there was a community ...

... to move on to our next stop after that.

We continued north to Meersberg, which was a pretty neat town that I'd like to come back and visit again when we have more time. Great location by the lake shore, with beautifully maintained half-timbered buildings, and an Altes Schloss that we decided to tour. This place really looked like an old castle, inside and out, and this tour was well worth it. Interesting exhibits on the inside, ...
