... a place on the waterfront, it was a nice sunny day but still cold, so we were outside under the heaters in the sun, which was strange to me. We had a typical Danish lunch potato type salad on top in rye bread with a glass of wine. Very nice. Then we hopped on a boat tour that took us on a cruise around some of the landmarks in Copenhagen, sculptures and points of interest. I was surprised there was a mixture of old classical architecture ...

... in Copenhagen. We found accommodation for Christmas last-minute, and stayed in an Airbnb rented to us by a university boy. The place seemed to be a renovated hospital, and the room stunk of hormonal boy-smells, but it was nice to have a whole place to ourselves with a kitchen and every game console you could think of. We planned on going to the bath there, which is an area in the canal that is blocked off for people to swim in. Unfortunately ...

... it took a while to find the hotel. It is located in a new residential neighbourhood on the waterfront. Our hotel is behind the World Trade Centre. One of the main features is the "Twisted Torso" residential tower. We ate at a restaurant on the waterfront and could see the bridge/tunnel we will be taking to Copenhagen in a couple of days. If you look at the flag on the waterfront you can see it was very ...

... channel between Denmark and Sweden that marks the entrance to the Baltic Sea, kind of like the Baltic version of Gibraltor. Sweden is only a few miles away. Like the Med, the Baltic Sea does not have a tide as it is almost completely landlocked. All ships from all the baltic countries inc. russia have to pass through this narrow channel and therefore its been a hotly contested area ...
