Travel Blogs From Travelers at The Blue Parrot Sydney

First day in Australia
Jun 30, 2008 (13 photos)

Travelling via the Sydney underground from the airport to the Kings Cross area before walking upto what would be my hostel for the week, the Blue Parrot Backpackers. The hostel seems to be ideally placed in Potts Point, about 15mins walk from the city centre and 5mins from Kings Cross. After getting sorted in my dorm room i went to the reception...

Arrived in Sydney for a few days yesterday... Am staying in lovely Kings Cross at a place called the Blue Parrot Backpackers - sounds exotic but really isn't! Sarah and I got trollied last night... 3 bottles of wine this time - she's such a bad influence. Donovan had fun getting her back to their hotel - hehehe. I had fun trying to get up to the...

Entry 54 of a trip titled: Through Russia and on into China for fun and japes around SE Asia.

Welcome one and all to this travel thing of glory! Righto. So here's the pitch - Sarah and I head to Russia, amuse ourselves for a week or two before catching a long-ass train known as the Trans-Siberian 'express' through to Beijing, where we proceed to bimble about the place generally enjoying ourselves whilst avoiding interesting illnesses. On the list are China, hopefully Tibet, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand but basically wherever we feel like going next. My plan is to keep this updated with interesting thoughts on our adventures, some pretty pictures and maybe even some shiny videos for you to enjoy with your eyes! ^_^ I'll try not to be boring. Honest. We'll be back before you know it anyway. Big hugs, Iain Xx-

Back to Syndey were we to say good bye to two more of the crew. Carmel was heading on to Thailand then back home. Our main aim in Sydney was to sell the Pajero as we were thinking that having already put a new engine in it was a sign of worse to come. We had a notion the Gear box or the clutch was next as finding reverse proved to be quite diffi...

Australia begins at Sydney

Australia was unfortunately just a flash in this 6 mo. adventure. Like Fiji it was just a stopover to my major destinations of New Zealand and Asia so I only gave myself 2 weeks. Not enough time for such a massive and unique country. But despite speding 3-4 days laid up in Melbourne with the worst flu of my life I managed to get in a lot and lov...

Back to Sydney

Back to Syd. Not my favorite spot. But this time hooked up with couple of my buddie, Ace's, dj friends for a night out, some nice free drinks but music too loud to ever connect or talk beyond "hello, how long are you here for" Next night hooked up with Ingbar one of my Israeli girl friends from NZ. Tried to meet up at Chinese Laundry for the dj/...

Greetings again from Sydney! We'll we've spent the last few days laying about like lumps on a log waiting for the fabeled Sydney Mardi Gras to begin. Since we were unable to make Mardi Gras in New Orleans, we were not to be denied! But I progress. Looking for ways to entertain ourselves we decided to visit the Sydney Toranga Zoo. This turned int...

Il bel far niente... the beauty of doing nothing. My time in Sydney, all two weeks or so of it, was very relaxed. I'm just going to chalk the lackadaisicality of it all up to acclimatising - after what was, for all intents and purposes, a short beach holiday in Fiji, the reality of traveling didn't truly hit until I arrived at my hostel just bef...
