Travelling via the Sydney underground from the airport to the Kings Cross area before walking upto what would be my hostel for the week, the Blue Parrot Backpackers. The hostel seems to be ideally placed in Potts Point, about 15mins walk from the city centre and 5mins from Kings Cross. After getting sorted in my dorm room i went to the reception to get some info on whats good to see in the city. Sasha, one of the hostesses, informed me of an ideal route to get a feel for the city on my 1st da...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia andrewsinclairSYDNEY, city of beaches and sun worshippers, seemed a good place to start my travels. Unfortunately I forgot a little thing called jetlag and promptly fell asleep on the beach! My back turned a rather nice shade of pink and is still (2 weeks later) not completely healed - surely only a POM would be this stupid? In preparing for the wedding in New Zealand I'd bought a mankini for use in the stag do - this got used up the first night by a random other backpacker who wanted to enter a bikini con...
Sydney, Australia dawolf So, after enjoying a little warmth in the centre we headed back to the coast. The flight was nice but yet again no window, a bit **** when everyone around you is oh and ah ing as we fly over the opera house and bridge.
First impressions of Sydney are wet. we jump into an airport shuttle to take us to our hostel near kings cross and its a long wet rally drive across town. We are the last ones to be dropped, the hostel looks cool and is in a nice area. Next day we are up and ready for it, we...
For my summer break I took a trip to Sydney, Australia. Two of my co-workers went as well, Russell and Peter. Peter is from Sydney, so he got to see his family while we were there. Sydney was great! I loved the city and would love to go back, or even live there for a while. I planned out a full itinerary, doing all of the tourist activities Sydney had to offer. I climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, saw the city from the top of Sydney tower, went to the Aquarium and the harbors, walked through ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia heatherannWe arrived in Sydney and stayed in a hostel called the Blue Parrott. Quite a small place but was very homely and was easy to meet people. Thought we were only going to spend a week here but ended up staying a month! Sydney truely sucked us in! But oh my god, I thought my partying days were over, but I found that she was still alive in there! When I eventually left sydney I was partied out, Was good fun thou! I dont think I really felt like I was in Austrailia untill I saw the Opera house, our...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia jessicanashWe moved hostels today, with the prospect that if it is as nasty as the other one we're leaving Sydney!! But it is a million times better! Feeling much more comfortable here! We're in a 10bed dorm so there is a real mix of people but again we've been lucky with that, as no one gets in too late or snores!! :) Considering we had a busy two days we decided to take it easy, we saw a different side to the city and visited the Roayl Botanical Gardens, (the pictures for which are on the previous blo...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia latergatorsWell i hope you all look at the photos and understand what we mean. The Blue Mountains were absolutely awesome!! It was the best tour we have been on and although a long day from 7am to 6pm it was well worth it. Started by going to the Mountains and we sat on the Kings Tablehead which is like a clifif edge over 1000metres tall and overlooks the valley. It was a little nervy being that high up and although the photos don't show it, with the wind blowing quite hard!! There is a natural blue haz...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia latergatorsWe visited Manly today(also not an island just because we took the ferry there, just don't ask Steve about it!!) I'm sure its beautiful however the day was a bit over cast and windy so not the beach day we had planned!! But they had a really cheap bakery so iced fingers with sprinkles 4 times the size of ours for only 50p made up for it!! (Yes I know we're cheap!) In the evening we get all dressed up, saved up a bit of money to go for a lovely (non-pasta) meal at Sydney Harbour and maybe a li...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia latergatorsOh yes that is right, we only went to the flippin' Olympic Park!! And swam in THE Olympic Pool (we are very impressed with that fact!) It may look just like another sports Stadium but it is pretty awesome what went into it and not just for the games, that 90% of the grounds are still open to and are used by the public! We had a tour through all the changing rooms (not that interesting) And the VIP boxes, media boxes etc. really just getting to see every nook and cranny! We also saw.... wait f...
