This place was very disappointing, and seems more geared towards the early twenties. The upstairs roof terrace is quite nice, as well as the communal parts in general. The dorms don't have enough power points or anywhere to put anything other than the floor. Also, some people seem incapable of having a shower without flooding the bathroom floor. People then walk in the bathroom, and spread muddy footprints all around the room. Not the hostel's fault that some people are so brainless, but all they have to do is put a mop and a sign about it in the bathroom. Perhaps no shoes in the dorm too. The kitchen is another thing that annoyed me. It is completely inadequate for the number of people using it; not enough cutlery, crowded etc. I needed rest when I got here, and it was very hard to find. It's not a wild party hostel, but there's always people around drinking, and nowhere to really find peace. I did meet some nice people here, otherwise I'd be inclined to score this with a two.

They have a herd of cleaners working all times of the day keeping everything very clean. It's a very busy, very full hostel. Kelvin, the owner, is helpful and full of good tips for visiting the area.
But we are an older couple who find climbing stairs difficult so our room was on the first floor-- a mistake. Some nights it was crazy noisy, others just moderately so as kids came in drunk at all hours.
People on the second floor said their rooms were quiet and that's really my only complaint.

This hostel was clean, well run, friendly and useful staff. The kitchen was large, and clean, plenty of room to cook your evening meals, it had a large living room area with sofas and TV, outside patio and lots of compute to use. The rooms were a good size and clean. It was also in an excellent location.

We got a double private with en suite bathroom. The bed is allright and the shower is hot in the early morning. Fan and satellite tv provided. Internet not a good signal in room better in common areas. Lots of common areas. Good place to hang out, not a party hostel but can still enjoy a few beers til 1. Good area and close to metro.

Good hostel,10 minute walk from metro, and short walk to Zona Rosa. Close to large exito supermarket, would recommend. Has ties with Real City tours, so has around 8 spaces for people to join the tour which is really worthwhile

Nice hostel run by a kiwi guy, great location, good facilities, helpful, friendly staff. Really nice private rooms too with amazing showers. Not a party hostel but really sociable & only 10 mins walk from zona rosa where theres good nightlife.
They have a local guy start his free walking tour (tips) from there every second day, see below (this is not to be missed)

Great cosy hostal where you get to meet great other travellers, Kelvin the owner also works here which gives a good vibe to the place and he also cooks up a mean BBQ on Sundays.

Leaving the lovely Cartagena we didn't really know what to expect of Medellin. In 1991 Medellin witnessed around 7,000 violent murders making it the murder capital of the world. Not a title that you would ever associate with this beautiful city if you saw it today.

I flew from Lima to Medellin, via Panama, on 12th December. There was barely enough room to go through the arrivals hall at the Medellin airport. The wall of bodies either side of the door left a narrow corridor through the crowd. There were cheers for some people, shouting, drumming and lots of laughter. I wasn't sure if this is normal Colombian …

It was time to leave the little slice of Paradise of Salento and head to Medellin. We were feeling quite jaded after a night out with our new Colombian friends, so that did not compliment the extremely windy roads and heat. The trip to Medellin was an astounding 250km, a quick jaunt in most western countries, however, 7 hours later we were just …

We boarded our first flight of the trip since we left Cancun to head to the Colombian city Medellin. Medellin used to be known as the most dangerous city in the world. During the 1980's-1994 the city was rife with drugs, violence and murder. Pablo Escobar, the guerrillas and the para military were the three main reasons for the conflict and …
