Although I booked a 6 bed all female dorm and when I arrived was told it was full.. it did turn out to be a good stay. I was given a partial refund and put in to a larger mixed dorm which was fine. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was nice (especially as it was on the sunny roof terrace!). The wifi wouldnt work on my phone but the fast internet on the computers in the lobby made up for that. They arranged my transfer back to the airport on a shuttle bus - very happy overall.

When I arrived at the airport in Istanbul in the early morning, the guy at information point was not very friendly. A mid-aged guy offered carrying luggage for me. Tram was busy around 7am, most of them were male, a few of them stared at me. When I arrived at Sultanahmet tram station, couldn't figure out street names, so my sweet friend Thomas&# …

7ish my alarm clock went off in the morning. The girls planned to start early. Our first breakfast on the rooftop of the hostel was very contented - big buffet was lovely surprise! Gorgeous weather and outdoor seats were a big plus. We started from getting on a ferry to Uskudar - the Asian side. We just looked around the sea side and had kebabs at …

After less than 6hrs of sleep, I forced myself to get up around 9am. It was raining outside, I didn't expect this as the weather in the last 2 days was absolutely GORGEOUS!!! Not sure about my plans, but I guess I should sort out my laundry first. The guys in the hostel were so helpful, they firstly called the laundry to find out that 7 Lira ( …

... these gels are coated with powdered sugar, other times they are coated with coconut shavings. In any case, they are incredible and very sweet.

For lunch, I grabbed a döner kebap, my first one in Turkey. Mine was served with chicken and topped with lettuce, cabbage, potato fries, carrots, pickles, dried pepper flakes, a spicy sauce made from red peppers, and some purple paste that I’m going to guess was made from cabbage (I actually have no idea what it was ...
