    What better way to recover from a bug that left me firing from both ends, than embarking on a four day hike in the Tongariro National Park. On the advice of my french companion for the trip Jean (Jon) the cure was to consume rice for several days to block everything up. Despite my doubts this work remarkably well.

    I don't know what we were thinking but we decided that paying $60, to get up at 5am, for an 8 hour hike through some mountains would be a good idea. So we got a bus at this ridiculous hour and set off. Having observed the keen gear of our fellow hikers, we were feeling very underdressed in our shorts, tshirts and trainers.     After a night in Taupo it was about time to do a longer break in Taupo our next city. On the way there we stopped at the thermological park. We saw a kiwi bird! That was so a wig with legs. And then we walked around the boiling hot springs. Our guide boiled the most perfect eggs to breakfast to show how warm the springs are and in what way the Maori people use the hot springs for cooking. Really nice! Finished that trip with the erruped geyser spraying water ...

    ... fun! The caves were amazing, some parts were spacious and you could stand whilst in other parts we were forced to climb and burrow our way through some small openings. As we progressed through the caves we came to some mini waterfalls where we jumped off backwards on our tubes, the most scary part was that it was pitch black and you could not see where you were landing or how far the drop was, this was really cool though! Before this the guide let us off ...
