Its is hard to believe that drew and i are now finished Contiki!!!It went so fast!! We had so much fun!! Our contiki group was fantastic. Continuing from last entry, we had a massive night at a florence nightclub! After a beautiful Tuscan 5 course meal and lots of wine, we headed out to a place called Space Electric. A nightclub with three levels all with different music. Drew sang some Karioke while i danced the night away with my friend from contiki Rach. Lets just say we all felt a little ...
Bath, England, United Kingdom drewandkirstFor the first time in a long, long time we used a conventional mode of transport...we hired a car. Thankfully, despite not having driven a car since October last year it all came back very quickly; just like riding a bike. The first challenge was figuring out the car's indicator to actually turn out of the parking lot. As we discovered numerous times during the weekend the indicator is on the left and the windscreen wipers on the right. This is the opposite of most cars on the road in Austral...
Bath, United Kingdom eatdessertfirstSeptember 11/07 0855am On the train waiting to depart Brighton. I've enjoyed my time here. So on to bath. Bath - 710pm Today was a rough day for me. I was fine until I got to bath, but when I had a really hard time finding the YMCA, and then saw my bare room, I wondered what I had done, and wanted to go home. The y was out of singles so I had to take a bunk by myself - don't much like the confines of a bunk. Everything is clean and okay, but the co-ed washrooms and showers will take some gett...
Bath, United Kingdom jaeSeptember 12, 07 Busy day. Day tour out to Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock and Castle Comb (I'm not sure about the spelling). Stonehenge is absolutely amazing. I felt awestruck and completely at peace there. The audio guide really helps enhance the experience in my opinion because it explains what you're looking at. I didn't realize there were 2 types of stone, and when u touch them there is quite a difference in there temperature (they have 2 stones near the entrance that you are allowed to touc...
Bath, United Kingdom jaeI woke early and went to morning mass at St Mary's - it was so lovely as they had a choir with an opera singer. By the time I got back everyone else was ready for lunch, being a YMCA hostel I am sure there were homeless people there for Christmas lunch just to give you an idea of the people we had lunch with. We were so full after lunch that we went for a walk to the Circus and the Royal Crescent. The circus is lovely, but the Royal Crescent was really something, as it overlooks a lovely gras...
Bath, United Kingdom prueandben Today we missed breakfast at the YMCA, but decided to keep it cheep, and went to the supermarket and bought a loaf of bread and berries. The berries here are possibly the best thing we have ever tasted!
After breakfast, we returned to the YMCA to get changed, as today was our first day of even slightly cold weather! It has been so hot everyday. We have been very lucky.
We first visited the Bath Abbey, which was a very beautiful church, though after seeing westminster it doesn't ...
I was very excited to find a hotel room for under $100 per night. We found our way into Bath quite easily and to the YMCA where apparently I forgot to ask if our room had a bathroom en suite or a TV...the basics. When we showed up to the YMCA we had two twin beds with a bathroom down the hall and no TV, nor electricity for that matter. All for the discount price of $88 per night. You gotta love England and the Pound. After the shock we got settled into Bath. It is an incredibly beautiful town...
Bath, United Kingdom scott_and_amyWOW. That pretty much sums it up. This town hasn't changed since Jane Austen lived there. Such beautiful stone streets and some really interesting city and regional planning. The highlight for me was the roman baths which blew me away. Even though I remembered a lot of history from high school it was awesome to see it in person, especially since I love the Roman culture. The ruins are huge too! They only discoverd them 150 years ago and had built so many building on top of them. We had aftern...

... hides out (and trashes) in the latest film is in Lacock. And, wait for it, I can offer you an exclusive preview into what Harry Potter's parents' house (in Godric's Hollow) looks like, which will be appearing in the next film! How cool is that? Ok, well, only Caroline and Terri and a couple of other HP fans will get excited about it, but I thought it was cool.
Anyway, since I'm feeling rather sniffly, I think I'll end my entry here.

... there. I really wanted to go to the Jane Austen house/museum, but they only offered tours and our schedule didn't work with theirs. Instead, I went to get my picture taken with the Jane Austen statue in front of the museum, but this guy dressed up in period clothing, I guess trying to be Mr. Darcy from Pride & Prejudice, or some other man from one of Jane Austen's books, snatched my arm up and made me take a picture with him. I ...
