13th June - Walked around Sydney - the Botanic Gardens, Mrs MacQuarie's Chair. There were people playing with a ginormo chess set!! Saw St Mary's Church which has a 9year waiting list to get married! Walked around Sydney Opera House. Met up with some people from our tour and did a Harbour Cruise. Got off at Darling Harbour. Went to The Rocks to see a light show on the Art Gallery and Sydney Opera House. Went to Wagamammas for dinner and said goodbye to some of the people from our tour.

I woke up at 7am to be outside the posh Mardina Grand hotel at 8.10am. I was there for quite a while before I called to find out I was not actually on the trip, but because a guy came in flip flops he could not go which meant an extra space for me. After an hour an half driving we reached the bottom of the Blue Mountains. We saw some Kangaroos and had tea and biscuits. We then headed up into the mountains and stopped of about amazing lookout spot called Subline Point before having lunch in a ...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia andy10265I woke up at 4am to get a flight from Tasmania at 6.10am to Sydney. Due to Sydney being packed out because of the Mardi Gra parade. Mardie Gra is a gay and lesbian parade that now involves everyone. I stayed in Collaroy, which is 40 minutes out of the city. There is not much to do, but there is a nice beach, hostel is great and met more great people. It as good as we got a big group of people and I played football for the first time in ages. The beach is fantastic, but it has loads of blue bo...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia andy10265Final entry for Australia. I arrived in Melbourne on Thursday 29th March with Hayley and Katie from my tour. I decided not to go to Adelaide as it would be too rushed. I stayed at Base Backpackers in St. Kilda for 5 nights. A lovely hostel with en-suite bathrooms to all the dorm rooms. I was lucky enough to be sharing with 7 men, lucky me. The only advantage was having the bathroom for as long as i wanted, i still have visions of one man in his red y-fronts, urgh! lol. Anyway, on the Friday i...
Melbourne, Australia atollafieldArrived in Sydney from Bangkok. I've got 5 days here in Sydney and will try and make the most of it. Been up sydney Tower and had a walk - round the OUTSIDE of the building. Harnessed on of course but it was quite exciting with some excellent view over the City. Everything here in Sydney is so accessible - you can welk practically everywhere which I have been doing - sore feet or what. I did the walk over Sydney Harbour Bridge that was amazing. Again silly suit on and harnessed and strapped o...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia barbarasyear20.13 - Today was a bit of a wasted day really. I had to get up early which I had no problems doing. My alarm was set for 08.00 but I was up and awake quite naturally before then which I was surprised and pleased about. Anyway, seen as I had a couple hours to kill, I made some phone calls to discuss my overdraft with Dad before checking my e-mails. When the time came, I checked out of the YHA and walked the couple of blocks down to Base. Although it wasn't that far away, my bags weighed a ton...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia bgill19.18 - Did I mention how much I like Sydney already? Well even if I did, I will say it again now. This place is great, especially the harbour areas, Darling Harbour in particular. First of all this morning, I walked down to Base Backpackers where I actually managed to get a room this time. I also managed to get myself back working for accommodation straight away. It came as a bit of a surprise but no sooner had I put my bags down, I was back to making beds! It was a bit easier here though be...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia bgillSo I have reached my final location for my OZ journey. Before I arrived in Sydney I wasn't really looking forward to my time here as a couple Queenslanders (Kent) had basically said Sydney is a terrible place that I would hate. Sydney is actually a really cool city with some beautiful architecture so I imagine there might be a little Queensland - NSW rivalry in those comments. There a ton to do in Sydney, along with a bunch of day trips like the Blue Mountains and the Hunter Valley (Vineyards...
Sydney, New South Wales, Australia bpippertNext stop was the infamous Kings Cross in downtown Sydney. Renowned as the best red light district in the Southern Hemisphere, we were curious to see what exactly that meant, us being four innocent lads fresh off the boat and all that.. Clive and his ever impressive extensive family tree sorted us out again. Ian, another cousin of his had a pimping wee apartment right in the heart of King's Cross (KC) and as he was travelling back to Ireland over the xmas holidays, we thought it only fair to ...
