This hostel has sooo much potential. It just needs a tad more bit of love. The location, on the beach, is perfect and very pretty. There is a very fun atmosphere day and night here.

The resort as a whole was lovely, right on the beach with beautiful views and a nice pool area. However the kitchen wasn't overly clean and the room we stayed in did not have air com so sleeping was not that comfortable. Other an that it is a great place to stay.

Heel leuk hostel! Elke avond nieuwe activiteiten die alle backpackers naar de bar toe trokken. Erg genoten van het verblijf hier. Ben hier helaas mijn handdoek vergeten :(

Ants, Angry Birds & No Tea Towels

We stayed 4 nights in this resort, 3 in a 6 bed dorm and 1 in a private double.

If anyone else was thinking if going to the island in general we'd advise 2 nights is enough is its very secluded with not much to do.

Of course you can bask in the sun, although the sand and even swimming pool sunbathing area is filled with ants. It also gets chilly and dark around 4-6pm (August 2013) and there are no street lighting on the roads to go for walks etc at night. You can also go snorkelling or visit Koala park but we heard from people that these weren't the best and hidden costs applied.

Although there was entertainment in the resort, it wasn't to everyone's liking and there wasn't much atmosphere.

*Bring a jacket if your sitting out at night- very windy!

Although the resort was clean and ok, there were no tea towels provided to dry up with in the kitchen area (ants everywhere again!) and there are 2 very angry/ aggressive birds lurking around hissing when you have your food. Also a hissing cat, although we eventually found these entertaining! They made the experience!

    Great location but...

This hostel has a great location right on the beach and the bar/common area is really big. However I've got to say some (not all) of the staff were pretty unhelpful and even rude. This wasn't just my experience I met two other people who were very dissatisfied with the staff too unfortunately. But hostel wise it's perfectly finefor a couple of nights and fairly clean.

I took my first greyhound today to Townsville to get the ferry to Magnetic Island with 2 girls I met in the last hostel, Alex and Abigail. This place is really how you'd imagine paradise to be! So after we arrived at about 3 we sorted out our room which is a 6 bed mixed dorm at Base and they are like little beach huts! We've just grabbed dinner …

I've had another really good day on Magnetic Island. I said goodbye to some of the people I'd met who were moving on up the east coast this morning before finding a spot in a hammock. I spent most of the rest of the day just enjoying the resort and the sun but it was well worth it! Then this afternoon we went to see some wallabies that are known to …

Our schedule to get to Brisbane was looking a bit hectic so we've decided to skip the Whitsundays, we figure it's pretty similar to the San Blas islands. Since we arrived in New Zealand 6 weeks ago we've rarely spent more than a single night in any one place so we're out on Magnetic Island, just off Townsville, at the moment, on holidays from …

Who comes halfway around the world and still doesn't escape the rain? Fraser Island has lived through a six month rain hiatus and yet we were the 'lucky' ones who managed to experience it during a flood. What are the bloody chances. We were picked up bright and early from our Hervey Bay accommodation on Tuesday, hopped on the ferry over to Fraser, …
