So after wot felt like non-stop flying I have actually arrived in Auckland, New Zealand!, the flight over wasn't all that bad to be honest, there was loads of empty seats so plenty of room to spread out, (with some careful maneuvering I was just about able to get comfy, although if I'm gonna do this again I WILL be taking Tai Chi lessons before hand). There seemed to be like a continues stream of food as well, meals, snacks, drinks, everything! Ok, so the view over wattle bay and the puhinui ...
Auckland, North Island, New Zealand adamchaseMy arrival into Auckland yesterday was good and I was able to explore the city a bit. I spent a good portion of last night in the bathroom, though, and that's never a good thing! My stomach is still cramping but I'm hopeful it will ease soon as I've taken meds and ate some plain rice and tea as recommended in a travel guide. :) It also looks like I'm going to have to pay more to rent a car than I'd hoped. It is the high season, though, and I'll probably just need to bite the bullet! I have a ...
Auckland, New Zealand adivine3So, yesterday evening I was recovering nicely from the stomach cramping and was hopeful about today. I'd booked a rental car, though still at a higher rate than I'd hoped, and had decided to visit Rangitoto Island. Rangitoto is a volcanic island out in the water just off the Auckland coast. It was formed from volcanic eruptions only 600 years ago. I then checked my email in the evening and found out that Alex would be travelling around the North Island right about the same time I was and he h...

Auckland, North Island, New Zealand adriandSo back on the road for our return to Auckland. That night (a Sunday) we watched a New Zealand movie called Whale Rider and vegged for a bit. Good movie. Little bit sad but my icy veneer did not crack. No tears were shed here, pal. Monday was spent having a look round the shops and generally being productive. That night we met Lorraine and pals for a few drinks and a bit of a send off. Quite an early night because, unlike us bums, everyone else had a job to go to the next day! Myself and Fion...
Auckland, New Zealand ainekerriganLand in NZ. Off the plane and have to go through customs etc. No sniffer dogs this time, Ciara. And our choice of food for brekkie on the plane was omelette or sandwich rather than "chicken or fish"!! Then we go through the foods etc to declare section. your man says "Have you any foods from another country?" and I was like "Em... we have some marshmallows"... (Idiots) thinking best to declare it all. I've seen that programme "Nothing to Declare"!! He was ok with the marshmallows but then we ...
Auckland, New Zealand ainekerriganI know that I have left Australia now, but it has left a significant impression upon me! Also, I thought you might like to see some of my pictures from the fabulous land of Oz! My first impression of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House will stay with me for a long time...even though it was cloudy! It is a sight that you know exists on the other side of the world that you have heard stories about and seen pictures of, but when you finally lay eyes on it yourself it sort of takes your...
