Pretty good for a party town. I think it's luck of the draw as to who you have in your dorm but the guys in our room were nice enough.

    What a lad.....

A travel blog entry by zoeandlaura2015 on Jul 31, 2015

So we arrived in Airlie Beach after what will hopefully be our last night bus. Airlie Beach was lovely and sunny, so after checking in (and a quick nap) we had a look around the shops. We had found out that it was the Reef Festival, an annual event in the town. Lucky for us as we had a few days until our Whitsundays tour. We met up with Olivia and …

16:00 Writing this on the deck of the 'Hammer', my home for the next 2 days. It's an ex-racing yacht and is a turquoise boat with big white sails. Boarded at about 08:30 this morning and sailed through the islands to Whitsunday Island. We sorted a few dolphins along the way which was cool. Walked through the rainforest track to Whitehaven Beach. …

13:40 Me and Johanna got up early to try and spot platypuses at the creek again. It was freezing cold but despite spending half an hour wandering up and down we didn't see any. Guess we used up all our luck last night. On the way down to Townsville where we stopped to change the bus and have lunch we stopped off at a tea plantation and at various …

On arrival to Airlie Beach we were greeted by the not so helpful base receptionist. Unable to book in until 1400 we had a stroll round the small but beautiful town. Unable to swim in the sea at this time of year due to two types of deadly jelly fish, one of them called the box jelly fish we headed to the lagoon which was …

Hervey Bay's washing facilities really are top notch! Needless to say, after two days on a Island full of sand, all we wanted to do was have a very long shower and do A LOT of washing. Luckily, Flashpackers, the hostel we stayed at in Hervey Bay was really lovely and so we didn't mind hanging out there and waiting for our clothes to be rid of sand …
