Granada and the Alhambra

For some really odd reason, or lack of, the only thing I really remember about the first time I visited Barcelona is the post office near the waterfront, and Scott vividly remembers Las Ramblas. Imagine our surprise then when we finally arrived in this strange and amazing city to really discover it. First of all, the weather was incredible, sunny skies, warm weather, lovely breezes, etc. The winter jackets came off, yeah! And I could talk to people! Language barriers gone, at last! However, s...

Well rested for Gaudi

What an amazing, yet rigorous journey this has been! It´s after 11pm on Friday, and I arose from my best nap yet. I´m finally feeling a bit rested. Thurday was mostly spent walking and exploring, with part of the meandering being on the famous walk of La Rambla. I only covered half of it, but another day, I will walk the other direction to the beach on the Mediterranean Sea. It rained much of the day, so I opted to seek out the beach on a fairer day. I found an cool vegan restaurant called Ju...

Paris to Barcelona

Our final hours in Paris were relatively uneventful. We packed, we ate, we walked to train stations. Our train to Barcelona, however, had lots of potential. We had multiple bottles of wine with us, and fully expected that to keep us entertained for at least the first half of the 10 hour train ride. We had booked seats in a couchette, which is basically a sleeper car for poor people. Its a tiny narrow room, with three bunks on each of the long walls. There's barely enough room left to stand be...

Barcelona.... Nice to be back in Civilization

Barcelona..... back to civilization.  I was a little harsh on Morocco.  Im sure there are fine people there, its just that theyre in the minority.  Im in the worst hostel so far, it has the look and feel of a hospital, but dirty.  I'm pulling out the mamma blankets.  Just like with Seville, I get into Barcelona on a very busy weekend since the Formula 1 race is on Sunday (annual race).  I want to go, however the cheapest seat to watch a blurs of cars pass by is 130 Euro ($170).  I would only ...

Hostel Will

The Barcelona Urbany Hostel is a newer hostel located in Barcelona. It is a really neat building that has luxurious I really did not expect. There is free breakfast, a pool, a gym, a restaurant, and of course a computer lab area. There is a great terrace that has a spectacular view of the city. The room I stayed in is a six bedroom which allowed for my friend Jenny and I to meet some interesting people. Our roommates consisted of a girl from University of Illinois who was studying in France a...

Beginning Adventures

Jenny and I adventured out and about after taking a nap on the first day and then for most of the day today. We were able to walk the several blocks to the center of Barcelona where we shopped, enjoyed food, visited a museum, and took in the Spanish culture. Corte Ingles is a shop nine stories tall which includes everything you can imagine. We shopped and then enjoyed lunch in the cafeteria on the ninth floor where there is a spectacular view of the city.

After a long struggle with the Danish Consulate General in New York
City... I finally had my Danish residence permit. My trip through
Central America was VERY sadly canceled due to my lack of passport.
After I got my passport back from the Consulate, I was ready to get out
of the continent. I made my way to Spain because....well because it
sounded like a good idea.

Barcelona was insane. It was a city
split by time. There was a Urban district and a Historical district...

... photos, to the e-mails, as long as I live, I will always cherish these precious memories of these precious people. They helped me, they changed me, they saved me. I will never forget them. I can't ever forget them. They are me, and I am them. They are my existence, and I am theirs. The Aussies, the Germans, the Brits, the Spaniards, the Americans, the Japanese...and everyone else. I love them, I truly do. It's like that, I can't explain, it exists as it does. C'est comme ca, et ca c'est tout.

... can feel my heart sink! (BOOHOOOOOO) but i still love my area cos it has the nicest bars around, stylishly designed and gay-patronised. frankly, my gay-dar has never been sharper!!! remember the guy i told you i went out for drinks with. hilarious story he told me - one late night he was walking home and a middle-aged man approached him. (in spanish) middle aged guy: you're really cute! (underlying meaning - wow you're fresh meat!) my friend: sorry i'm not gay ...

Fat Falafels and Midnight Laundry Sessions

... Americans, and ofcourse, more Aussies. At the tequila bar everyone gave me their shot tickets claiming that they had gotten sick off tequila once too often. Well, its never been poison to me so I said why not? Then we went to a dancing type club where I danced until my feet hurt. When we got home Skye and I got into our heads that it would be a good time to do laundry. After all the machines were finally not being used but then, who would be doing laundry at 2am. I ...
