Fat Tire Bike Tour day

we were up early and into city, catching that replacement bus service certainly made things slower. We started the day off with a Fat Tire Bike Tour – which I highly recommend. The tour guide was fantastic and we got to see most of the city in 4 hours.

We stopped at the Barcelona Cathedral, and then headed to the famous Sagrada Famillia, Antoni Gaudi's creation. We also went through the park and headed past the bull fighting arena, stopped at the Arc De Triompf (Barcelona Versi...

Time for Barcelona

So today we took a train to Barcelona. The best train I have ever seen in my life!! We took a bunch of baguettes from our hostel's breakfast for the road. Jeff was sitting with a guy from Logan Square. Small world!! Once in Barcelona, we got to our hostel in like 15 minutes. It was in the outskirts of Barcelona. It was so extremely nice and helpful! We were about 8 minutes walk from the beach. We got some crepes and ice cream at this little restaurant. I was nervous speaking Spanish here beca...

Where am I?

Here. So, Barcelona. Definitely worth the effort. Lots of cool buildings, good vibe. Not cheap, but if you look after yourself you can do all right. We've been to lots of Gaudi places, the funky park and building that everyone knows about. And the big church that's still being built. I think it's definitely a livable city. Good public transport, good climate. Good food. Maybe Santiago and Barcelona so far are my two non-English speaking livable cities. Cardiff being in the English speaking si...

Dali

Today we took a 2 hour or so train trip up North to bisit the town where Salvidor Dali spent a lot of his time working. He rebuilt a burnt out theatre and turned it into his museum. It's a big place. Really big, and we spent maybe 3 hours there, and it seemed a rush. It's full of sculptures made specially for the place and a lot of his art work. His oil painting are what most people recognise, but he also experimented with many styles of art. Oh, and it's nice to be in a country with a good t...

Barcelona I love you!!

We were going to leave by train from Almeria to Barcelona on the Arco but when we
got to the train station we found out that the train was sold out. You need to reserve it in advance. Oh well, from there we went to the bus window and bought our tickets to Barcelona leaving at 9:45 AM and getting there at about 10:30 PM. The ride was pleasant and we stopped along the way and bought souvenirs at the rest stations and ate some pretty good food!

When we got to Barcelona we took the met...

... steak which I got since it was my birthday. Saturday we walked the town and visited La Ramblas which is the famous street in the center. Watched the street performers and saw the outdoor market where you can buy anything from self portraits to pigs. Also went to the Gaudi Museum and the Pedrera Apartments. Sunday we visited the still unfinished Sagrada Familia ...

Funny-Colour

We slept in until 9am this morning as the shutters on our windows shut out any hint of daylight. After a breakfast of Banana and Bread we wandered the streets. We admired some of the famous Spanish architect Gaudis work. His Cathedral being the most impressive and actually the most original one I have ever seen. We then found a nice little Tapas restaurant for lunch ...

Feliz Año Nuevo

Hola I know that a lot of you probably thought I had died and were happy about it, but no! I am still alive and still kicking it. Sorry to disappoint. Its just the last couple places I went to, did not have Internet access and it was too expensive to go to a cafe. So let me recap: When in Rome, do as the romans and avoid the freaking Asian tourists. They go there in flocks and take pictures of EVERYTHING. Seriously. I went to the Coliseum and the Forum in the ...
