We were met at the bus terminal in Cordoba by Nicholas and Virginia, who we met on Ihla Grande in Brazil. They are both from the city and we promised we would visit. We wandered around the city centre with them for the day and then headed back to the hostel for food. The owners cooked an Asado (BBQ) for the residents and we had a nice night meeting people who were staying at the hostel. The next day Nicholas and Virginia collected us and took us Southwest. We had a great day sightseeing. Sat b...
Cordoba, Central Argentina, Argentina dacraicWe may have only been there for six hours but it deserves an entry in itself. After an uncomfortable nine hour bus ride from Cordoba, we got to San Juan at 8am. We just missed a connecting bus to our destination, St. Augustin by thirty minutes, so we had to wait until the next bus which was at 2pm. What to do..headed into town to kill time. Tourist office at the bus station was of no help whatsoever, so we wandered to the places we thought may be of interest from the map. The first Museum we ...
Cordoba, Argentina dacraicI had intended to try to ssee some more of the Iguassu area, such as the bird park or the Brazilian side of the falls, but our guide from the other day offered to get us across the border and to the Argentinian airport and said we needed to leave by 10am. I loaded up on breakfast so I wouldn't have to eat expensive airport food. Breakfast was fantastic again, with two types of cake, little delicious empanadas, fruit, pizza, toasted sandwiches, juice... All the food I had at Hostel Natura was ...
Cordoba, Central Argentina, Argentina danasvI was supposed to be going on an all-day horse trek, but it got cancelled because of the weather. I needed something else to do (especially since it was Sunday and not mucch is open in the city) so I joined my roommate on a trip to Alta Gracia. We found the Cordoba mini-bus terminal without too much trouble and bought a ticket to Alta Gracia (5.90 peso, USD1.60). The bus ride is only about 50 mins, so it wasn't too bad. We'd asked the driver to let us know when to get off to go to Che Guevara...

So we arrived in Cordoba after our little El Bolson disaster. We saw some amazing scenery leaving Patagonia. Drining through the mountains, there were really unusual rock formations, a canyon and the bluest river I have ever come across running through it. Everything was just barren after that and after 22 hours on a bus (the lowest class possible too) we were very happy to be on new soil. Cordoba is the second largest city in Argintina but with only a population of 2 million it reminded us o...
Cordoba, Central Argentina, Argentina fillyThe bus was fantastic! Apparently Argentinians travel a lot and so have got some great bus links: it was a two-decked with (almost) fully reclining seats. As I like to be prepared I was the first to book and got top-spot, seat number 1 on the top floor, a single seat not next to anyone else. So I didnīt have to worry about some fat bloke sitting next to me, squashing me against the window for 10 hours. The travel entertainment still remains shocking; we were going to get The Pursuit of Happyn...
Cordoba, Central Argentina, Argentina johnsa32After our typical late Argentinian dinner we woke up quite late, just in time to check out. We knew there was a bus leaving San Luis at 1pm to go to Cordoba so we went into a travel agent to purchase tickets. They only had a bus leaving at 6pm so we were very frustrated and went straight to the internet cafe and bought our tickets online for the 1pm bus. Hah! It seems to us that breakfast in Argentina mainly consists of sweet pastries. Our breakfast today consisted of 2 danishes, 2 sugared cr...
Cordoba, Central Argentina, Argentina livtajimAfter breakfast at the hostel (pastries again) we walked to the main plaza (San Martin) for a little look around. There was some sort of event going on and we saw some tango! We visited the cathedral which was beautiful as are all of the churches weīve seen so far. Now, we had a bad experience in San Luis with a buffet restaurant but we were tempted again by the idea of Argentinaīs LARGEST buffet restaurant (las tinajas). We couldnīt resist! Off we went and waited with all the senior citizens...
