Backpackers In Paradise Surfers Paradise

Spent a few days here. It wasn't what i expected, twas basically a cross between Miami and a mediterranean sun holiday...loads of palm trees, skyscrapers and a beachfront. A resort and a city in one. A bit souless compared to Byron, but decent enough. Probably worth another look. My grandfather passed away the day before i arrived here...i wasn't in the right frame of mind for the place.

Yesterday I arrived in Surfers after a short bus journey on the greyhound australia bus. I arrived mid afternoon and headed to the baech which was good but so windy. I went with two girls who I met on the bus who were from Wales. Had fun in the afternoon and looked for a fancy dress shop but could not find anything as the girls had Scrubs from a hospital when they were in Sydney. The night out was great and there were around 50 backpackers all on this organised night out, with lots of free dr...

I arrived in Surfers mid afternoon on the Greyhound Australia Bus from Byron Bay, It was not a long journey but slept the whole way. When I arrived checked into a backpackers place with two Welsh girls who I met as I was getting off the bus. We went out in the afternoon to the beach to see the surf, which was good but was very windy on the beach so ended up in a beer garden which was sheltered from the wind.

In the evening I cooked an omlette which was very good and there was an organ...

The hostel was everything but a paradise. Don't stay there if you can help it! The kitchen was smelly and hadn't been cleaned for a couple of yrs. Same with the bathrooms in the room. Mold everywhere, yuck! Surfers was Ok, good place for clubbing. But the beach wasn't that good for us who just like to sunbathe and go swimming as the tall buildings take all the sun.. High waves and stingers made it impossible to go swimming. We left for brisbane after only 2 days.

yesterday was crazy! well not so but almost! didnt bat my eyes during the whole night, just talked an talked and talked! great time i sure had and at 7 i jsut went to my room, had a good shower, changed my bus ticket for an earlier departure, packed my bag and got on the bus towards Surfers Paradise. it felt strange to leave, i guess i could have stayed for a little longer but hey, its easy to be wise after... anyway, the bus trip was baad, i just wante to sleep and couldnt relax cause i thou...

wohoo! i had a great new years! finally! but first thing first! surfers hasnt been easy, i like the likeness to cala millor, the buildings are nice and not so tacky that everyone says, and the beach is lovely! but the ****** hostel got the better of me so i have been a little low the first few days... met some nice guys from sweden martin, simon, peter and johan, cant get more swedish than that! so bec of my small dislike for surfers, i thought that a small trip back to byron to visit friends...

Here we go! Trying to update as much as possible but dang we have done a lot. Our second day in Surfers Paradise started with us going out for an all you can eat breakfast and totally gorging ourselves! From there Steve took off to do some surf lessons while Wylez, Mart and myself decided that today was a good day to check out Sea World. After catching the bus we arrived to the theme park type aquarium. The day we pick was crazy because the heat was just beating down on us. We basically check...

We planned to stay in Surfer's Paradise for three nights so that we could visit two of the many theme parks on Queensland's Gold Coast. We checked into Backpackers In Paradise, the most expensive hostel we'd stayed at in Australia. In our room were two lads from Blackpool who were working for the hostel that lived in a mess of clothes and hair products. It wasn't too long until Theresa had added to the mess! It took us a while to decide which theme parks we wanted to visit as we wanted a comb...
