Hey, you know the Family Guy where...

So last night was a rather sleepless night, as the Europeans we share our rooms with don't like to shower and smell like heathens. Anyway, we woke up, had breakfast and headed to meet our tour to go to Dachau. The company who runs the free tours we've been on before and talked about at length was the same company that we took this tour with today. Additionally, we got 20% off for being guests of a participating hostel, and another four euro off for being student. Cheap way to get a guided tou...

Wurzburg Winefest

So, we got another 4 day weekend, but realized we were quickly running out of travel days on our railpasses. We needed something that was close so we could get there without spending too much money. We found out there was a winefest going on in Wurzburg which is about 30 minutes from our home. Friday morning we got up and went to the train station and began our search for the Wurzburg Winefest... From the map we saw on the winefest website, it was supposed to be located behind a cathedral cal...

It May Not Be Much, But They Like To Call It Home

... to my hotel. Now I know why they call it LUGgage. After settling into my room, I headed out to take the "Night Watchman Tour". The tour was only an hour, but it was informative and the Watchman was humorous as well. After the tour, I went To Hell, yes that is the restaurant's name, for dinner. FYI, they serve good food in Hell. So the next time someone tells you to "go to Hell", it may very well be a good suggestion!

Am I In A Third World Country?

While going from case to case at the various German hospitals, I had the opportunity to finally see what the Autobahn was all about. Yes, there is no speed limit, but it has plenty of traffic, so it didn't prove to be the speed thrill I had imagined. We did get some RPM's revving every once-in-awhile however.

Today we had a slow walking tour with what looked like Heidi's grandmother. This town was a strongly Jewish town before the war and there are none there now. Rather disturbing. The views were beautiful.

Each day Sheila and I seem to learn a ***********. Today we ...

... for the witch hunts in the Middle Ages. Two hundred men, women and children were burned at the stake in this town. I walked along the waterfront and returned to the ship.
After dinner a local band performed in the lounge. They played a variety of music and were very entertaining.

Good Pretzel Town

... has fallen into ruin. We walked around town a while taking pictures and I bought a couple of pretzels. Went to the Visitor Center to buy a pin and walked back to the ship.
During the afternoon the ship cruised on to the next town. We went up to the sun deck where we could have a good view of the countryside. It was sunny and warm which made it very pleasant.

We’re now traveling on the Main River. We’ve seen many swans and ducks on the river and the hills have many vineyards. After lunch we docked at Wurzburg , another picturesque town with many church spires and a fortress on the hill. The river is crossed by another old stone bridge with large statues of Bishop Princes and saints lining the sides of the bridge.

London to Würzburg via Utrecht

... across to England. Ed suggested that he should hide in the engine housing of a certain eurpean bus tour company.... It was a beautiful clear hot day and with so much gear we decided to head out to the campervan depot early. A great move! They got everything signed and checked and showed us around out mint van all before 1300! After stocking up on groceries at a dirt cheap supermarket around the corner we headed onto the AutoBahn for ...

Wow today sucked

... guy and he put me on an ICE train mannheim, frankfurt, and then würzburg. But i had to pay a 17 euro supplement. Sucked so bad. I met some cool people on the trains though. Like the guys from manchester who I could not understand at all. And the all the japanese people. I finally got to my hostel at almost midnight. Then I sat around and spoke with this guy from Mexico City and a guy from London and two expats from Augusta, GA who now live in München.
