When in Rome...!

... as well. We also saw the tomb of Caesar which was pretty cool. We walked around for a few hours and then headed over to the Colosseum. All I have to say is WOW! Definitely took me by surprise at the way it made me feel. I was pretty much in awe the entire time we were in there. It was hard to believe that I was standing in this ´stadium´ that thousands of people and animals were killed in...and most of it was decided by ...

When in Rome

... which is 5 minutes from the colliseum and about a 15 minute walk to the train station. Immediatly we met this Australian named Paul who needed to do laundry as well and he took us to one. Finally clean clothes!!!!!!!!! While there I went to a supermarket and apparently balestra is the most famous designer in Italy. He said it is one step down from armani? whatever that means haha. But I gotta find some balestra clothes and bring em back to the US. We are currently ...

... stood (plus loads of other statues) so it was all good. Mum was right, David has a nice bum *LOL* You could buy boxers with his privates on the front and his bum on the back but I opted not to purchase it. We had a Tuscan supper that night and it was okay. I was supposed to hit a local disco but there has been a nasty cold spreading around and I caught it so I went ...

... same as it had been 2 yrs ago, although this time I went inside the Sistine Chapel and into St. Peters Cathedral (the main one) It was alright. I personally did not see the point of it all and so wasn't too impressed by either buildings. Then we wandered a bit, ate fatty foods and met Kim. I actually managed to fall asleep at the Church. I found that absolutely awesome! We were to have the next day free to ourself and b ...

Last Day in Roma..

... catching the Leonardo Express to the airport where we had to wait again before checking in. While waiting in line, Brian decided to try out some of his newly learnt German, and the old German guy behind us over heard him saying 'enshudigung' or 'excuse me' in German, then started to talk and smile at us. We had no idea what he was going on about half the time, but he seemed very friendly, a lot different to the Italians! I think we'll enjoy our stay in Munich! =)

Day 4

Day 4- We finally went to Santa Croce! I cannot believe it took us this long to see this amazing church. Oh my ___! This church, at around 9:30 in the morning and less than 20 tourists was something else. There's something about a church and light (sunlight) that really just gives me goose bumps- this church did it's "job" to me as it would have to someone in the 15th century- filled me with piety. I ...

Firenze (Florence)

... The 360 degree view was magnificent and what's more, in the distance, we could here an opera singer. How romantic! Lunch was rather dissapointing, as it was the first time we have had bad service in Italy. After this, of course we had to visit the famous statue of David, however we regret that it was only the replica. Once again, peak holiday time in Europe=long entrance lines. But shamefully, all our site seeing ended there once we stumbled across the ...

Day 10: Roma

... they seemed to be having fun. I walked up the main street and came across several cool buildings. After walking and shooting for about an hour or so, I took the first bus I found, trusting it would get me close enough to "downtown" Rome for me to find my way. Even though I wasn't scared of the ...

... little shakey but ready to hit the road to Rome. Well, after a bus to the port, a hydrofoil to Naples, a bus to the Naples train station, a train to Rome, the subway and a fairly lengthy walk, I was completely done in. I had a fever and could barely drag my bags up the last 4 stairs to my room. It was a rough night but I am feeling like I might survive. I am paying a little more than my budget would like for my own room, but it is a nice place and I probably need some real rest. To ...

10th July 2000 A quiet day at Monte Benichi, catching up on this journal. We ducked in to Bucine for groceries etc and to call home to Peter Mac. After a trial pack of various bags, we figure we should be able to fit all the breakables into Cheryl's carry ...
