Buenos Dias!
So, after an early-going-to-bed, we woke up around 7am in the morning, having slept for almost 13 hours, killing most of the jetlag and feeling brand new. Opened up the balcony doors and yes, a beautiful hot day on December 31st, yiha!
After an nice breakfast in the hostel, we first set-off to Retiro, the main bus station in Buenos Aires. From Retiro, all the long-distance buses depart to all parts of the countries and even to Chile and Brazil. Taking those buses is...
Ola!
While everyone was receovering from New Years Eve, we hit the road again already early in the morning of the 1st day of 2010 (Duhhh, went to bed before midnight like old people....). New Years Day weather sucked a bit, it was warm, but rained. But hey, nothing could stop us!
First stop for today was Boca. Boca is one of the traditional poor neighbourhoods of Buenos Aires and was the settlement for Italian immigrants back in the 19th century. They borrowed paint from the loc...
Saturday 3th of January we visited Tigre.
Tigre is a town in the Buenos Aires Province, Argentina, situated in the north of Greater Buenos Aires, 28 km (17 mi) north of Buenos Aires city. Tigre lies on the Paraná Delta and is an important tourist and weekend attraction, easily reached by bus and train services. It is the principal town of the Tigre Partido. The town sits on an island created by several small streams and rivers and was founded in 1820, after floods had destroyed other ...
We arrived in Buenos Aires on 14 Feb... Romantic as ever! We stayed in a really nice hostel called America Del Sur but it was only on the third night that we realised we had got the prices confused and it was way to expensive so we had to move on. We moved just around the corner to a place called Ayres porteños which was a beautiful old colonial building with really friendly staff. We signed up for Spanish classes almost immediately as we were both majorly lacking in that department. The Span...
Buenos Aires, Capital Federal District, Argentina denis.df Pulling into Buenos Aires bus terminal at an early 9am, an hour behind schedule, we make our way to our new home in San Telmo. Cobble stone streets and detailed architecture give this little part of town a European feel, much like Paris I presume. Just a few blocks ahead is 9 de Julio, apparently the widest street in the world spreading 20 lanes with gardened medians. Its actually easy enough to cross...measures 460 feet wide.
Being back in this part of the city makes for a charming t...
Following a nice long morning, we head out to the Recoleta district. I deem myself tour guide of the day, following a snazzy mapped tour from Lonely Planet. The 3 fellow travelers didn´t complain too much..but they did request I make up stories when I did not know the facts. It made for an interesting adventure. It was hot**this day!
Tour starts at the Recoleta Cemetary. This place is like no other! Essentially, prime real estate in Buenos Aires, the tombs can be sold for over...

It is Always Amazing to come across such lovely people as I travel. Travelling in South America has already loaned itself to meeting such intersting, inspired people. Families emerge over night, friends are made over 1 beer and the most brilliant of all is the energy each group evolves too. Each person seems to stand their ground while bending with enough flexibility within their own patterns to make a comfortable little bubble for all.
I have already said some...
Honestly, I couldn´t have left the Hare Krishna place any faster. The last evening was a real drag...consisting of an allergic reaction to my room due to the dust and lots of big spiders and bugs and...argh! I decided to excercise my free will and pack up and get out ASAP. One of the gentleman there gave me a lift to the bus stop to Buenos Aires, and I was off with a sense of relief.
Arriving in Buenos Aires, I was psyched. I woke up from a quick snooze on the hour bus ride feeling re...

... Buenos Aires seems to have its own was of saying a lot of things.
We went to see argentina and venezuela play in a world cup qualifying game. it was a great experience and was Maradonas first game as manager of argentina.. the man is a god here.. they were chanting his name throughout the whole game.. ole ole ole ole diego diego!! We saw Messi work his magic. This is the new Maradona and he had everyone on the edge of the seat when ...
... obscure news headlines and horse racing results.
The staff are also strangely similar the world over too. Even though the shop has three chairs, only two men are present to cut your hair for long periods of the day, especially at busy times when it is mandatory for one to go AWOL. One of the remaining men is younger, perky and fancies himself as a playboy - even going so far as to review his ...
... began to tiene hambre and implored that we stop for some lunch. Spotting a local Parilla counter with a tendency toward all things salchicha, Ev1 commanded a stop and we obliged. The spot was pretty awesome, complete with a group of macho men outfront whistling and harassing every woman that walked by. Eventually our sausage chef ripped into them for scaring away his customers.... Not that this stopped them. After this, David headed off to a class while the three of us ...
