Day 9

... that hotels here actually advertise that they have hot water so it must not be the norm.

So today was our day to drive from the resort back to the area where the airport is. We are staying at a little hotel that is called the Pura Vida Hotel for the last few nights. I had learned the name just because I knew that was what our hotel was called. Well, I have learned since being here that Pura Vida is a very commonly used ...

... sure that if the clothes were wet that they would ever dry. I doubt I have used a dry towel the whole time I have been here. My skin loves the humidity but my hair is fighting back.

Speaking of laundry, I talked to my husband and he is working on the laundry. He admitted that he was nervous and I appreciated that. I miss taking care of him. He’s so good to me as well. Anyway, he told me that washing went fine but he ...

Soy gringa pero no es mi culpa!

... back to the cabin we tried watching more Grey's but there were 10 more cockroaches to get. It took an hour and a half to get them all - and half a can of raid and a raid plug in (we told the security guard he had to get us raid because it was ridiculous) - we couldn't find the source; that was the gross part. Then we watched more Grey's Anatomy.

On Saturday, me and my two friends went Kayaking in the Mangrove. It was incredible--we were a few ...

ANDAR Week

... for a day. I watched a bit of the US v Brazil game with my Tica family as well…the US lost…of course. I didn’t do much else during the day…I watched Ice Age 1 and 2 with my Tica mom and Tica sister in Spanish that night though because Ice Age 3 is coming out and my Tica mom wants to see it but I never saw 1 or 2 yet. They were alright and I understood more than I thought I would.

Monday, June 29 – I’m on my lunch break ...

Last Weeks in Costa Rica

... cookies which I sold for 100 colones (about 20 cents) each. All in all it was a success and gave me some much needed spending money for my upcoming travels. I planned on taking a month to travel by myself all the way up to Arizona via bus and any other means necessary to enjoy an adventure. All my hard work planning trips and learning Spanish was about to pay off. In my second year in Costa Rica I worked for a travel agency in San Jose that specializes ...

4) A fishing rod. I figure it would be a fun thing to have at beach stops (plus cheap dinners...), but after 6 hours of walking, id seen a dozen gun shops but no tackle shops. Panama?
5) The Lonely Planet South America guidebook. $36! A ripoff...just like in the UK!

Don't Carry Anything You Aren't Prepared to Lose

... we weren't customers, but freeloaders) told us about a great receptionist in "the yellow hotel two blocks that way" who might be able to help us. A few minutes later we emerged with our prize - the last copy! If we return during better volcano-viewing weather we may actually sleep in the "yellow" hotel. 'Yellow' must be THE color for us in this town! The Catholic church across from the town square proved irresistible. We entered, approached the back ...

One week in Costa Rica

... backwards, for example: oh damn, cant think of an example, next time i do it i'll commit it to memory for this purpose. One very disappointing thing is that things here are soooooo expensive! like more so than in the states!!! Crazy! like im talking sooo expensive, i dont know how they do it. its just crazy! the only cheap things i ve seen have been cigarettes (roughly converted into Aussie $$ about $2 a packet?) and manicures (about AUD $10 ...

Slut herfra for denne gang. Håber I alle sammen har det godt derhjemme. PS: Husk at sende mails :)
