Experiencing food of the gods

A travel blog entry by gilliankey

... from an array of fresh produce to a selection of cheeses, cold meats, fresh meats and ranges of poultry that we never see in SA. The meat is very expensive but everything else the same as home. Tomorrow is our last day in the French country before we go to Tuscany for a week. We are all having the most glorious time and the peacefulness of this small village is a most remarkable experience.

Cape Town Part 1: Are We Still in Africa?

... colorful advertisements posted around the terminal, or the complete desolation of the place. The airport, in effect, is a microcosm of the world you were about to step foot in. I guess when I look at Logan International Airport in Boston, I'm stepping into a Dunkin Donuts fueled, automobile-centric, grey looking metropolitan area, which I don't think is that far from the truth. And if you think I'm wrong, just spend some time chatting with a TSA agent.

Mountain Climbing - In South Africa

... sat up there for a while but I wish I could sit there for so much longer. It's so peaceful and you can't hear anything but the wind. That was definitely the highlight of my day.

Everything else is boring compared to that but next we went to Boulder's Beach. I got to see African penguins! for only $5! They were so cute and just waddling around. This was the second highlight of my day :) There was so many penguins on the beach just ...

South African Wine Country

A travel blog entry by jenniferhousema

Saturday was such a beautiful day! We went wine tasting in Stellenbosch and it was one of the most beautiful country sides I've seen. Pictures and words cannot describe. It was about a 2 hour drive to get to our first tour at Fairview. This tasting cost us 25 Rand (2.50 US dollars) a piece and that included 6 wine tasting and 7 cheese tastings to pair. This place was so fancy and nice and all the wine pourers were ...

... movie after movie that we had never heard of starring people like Tom Cruise, Kevin Costner, Liam Neeson, and Meryl Streep.

Since the weather was nice, we spent our first full day walking around the city and just exploring. We walked through the Company Gardens which reminded us a lot of Central Park in New York City. There were wide pedestrian paths, rose gardens, herb gardens (which were completely out of control, much like the herb garden I had at home last ...

Lovely place to arrive to, friendly, clean and comfortable and very well organised, fun, but with certain rules keeping it strictly out of the full party hostel list.
I only mark this down as our room was moist and leaky roof during the heavy rains.
Free breakfast very good variety and bbq great value. owners friendly and accommodating. Would definitely reccommend.
