Shanghai
Our Air India flight is only half full from Delhi-Shanghai. It's turbulent free which means I'm flatulent free. It's just over 5 hours to move cultures. We need the change. Our spirits are lifted in anticipation. I've made no bones about the fact that India was tough to travel in. How will China be. As we mill off the plane at the back of the …
Loving Shanghai
in a nutshell: we managed to get ourselves to Shanghai on the overnight train from Beijing. Jerry had trained us well and we managed to find the right platform and train - thank goodness they use Arabic numbers for their trains rather than Chinese characters! We stayed very close to the Bund in the thick of it all and withing walking distance from …

Travel only with thy equals or thy betters; if there are none, travel alone - The Dhammapada Soft Sleeper - Travelling in Style Make no mistake; Soft Sleeper class is the way to travel in China, if you can afford it of course. TravelPod Member ReviewsAstor House Hotel Shanghai
The location of the hotel is excellent with easy walking to the Bund. The size of the rooms, even the non executive rooms are a very good size but very tired and the bathrooms rather dated. If you can, upgrade to the executive wing as the rooms are enormous, the bathrooms fresher and there's wifi in the room. Otherwise, the free lobby in the wifi is ok but the lobby can be very busy and noisy with weddings in the ballroom and not much seating.
The breakfast was ok with fruit and a large selection of asian options. The staff are friendly and in general everyone speaks good english.
