Week 2

... the wildlife was as impressive as the water, with plenty of Toucans, lizards that were big enough to be slightly unsettling, and hundreds of Coatis, which look like a 3 way cross between a monkey, a raccoon, and a pig (apologies to any biology fans out there), and seemed to spend most of their time walking in front of tourists and demanding bits of sandwich.

After the falls we took another epic bus to our current location ...

Buenos Aires: My New Favorite City

... Museo de Las Armas del Nación (National Arms Museum) is a collection of just about every type of weapon ever used over the course Argentina's violent history. I should also note that in the hour and half we spent wandering the spartan halls, we noticed for every 20 men, there may have been one female visitor. This is definitely a museum for guys. Swords, guns, knives, cannons, amour, and stories of fierce battles and dioramas with little soldiers in various realistic uniforms ...

MIA in BA

... Espanyol lessons as well as a few days at a boxing club owned by Argentinian ex-world champ Miguel Angel Castellini. Okay, he held the WBA Welterweight belt for only 1 fight before he was dethroned, but he´s still a champ in my eyes, even though my espanyol is still as bad as my right-hook. I managed to catch a couple of footy games while I was there and luckily the dodgy looking ticket I bought from a tout outside the Boca Juniors ground was legitimate and ...

March 5th to 9th - Buenos Aires

... bus toilet again, although in fairness it wasnt the worst as bus toilets go. Needless to say I didnt get too much sleep on the journey. Arrived at our hostel, Milhouse, on Avenida de Mayo, in the city centre, at a round 4pm. Then I just washed up and changed my clothes and met Timo and went for a big steak dinner (I wasnt deterred by my first experience). It was bleedin lovely (bleedin being the operative word cos they just seem to automatically give ...

The Gift of Missed Connections

... Bs would NEVER consider me one-- to them, I would be a "corporate sell-out" or something. I have a workbook "The Artist's Way" that I keep think I'm going to start, that and review my Spanish workbook, and do my daily Bible Study, and Pilates DVD, and finish my paper, train for my half-marathon... I need to be consistent. But here I go again. NOw that I've done each of those things every day, it's time ...

Im expecting the bus to be cold as well. But Campo Grande was at 25 yesterday - heres hoping it stays!!! ciao for now!

... sunshine, eat like there is no tomorrow, (drink well beyond my ability) and enjoy the laughter that they create where-ever they gather in the evenings. I have had more fun with them than for many a year and although their humour and language is not what I would normally always approve of, their is no malice in them. As with any group of people there is among them the comedian, the musician, the rather naive one ...

Return to Foz for a big reunion

Why did I come back to this town ? The reason is that I was again reunited with my family, well half of it anyway. My travels, that had the direction sense of spider on speed, had seen me wandering around the fabulous Andes on my own for ten weeks and stopping where-ever the scenery, coach, town or just plain fancy appealed to me. Looking at my route it is clear that I have only scratched the surface of ...

Iguazu Falls

... in Argentina. I think 14 minutes will end up being the record for the least amount of time we've ever spent in a country :) There's not much to see or do in the town of Puerto Iguazu, but the star of the show is not far out of town. As we walk down from the park entrance and first set eyes on these gigantic falls, we couldn't fail to be impressed. The Argentinian side of the falls allows you to get close up and they have built a walkway ...

foz do iguazu

foz do iguazu is the town on the brazilian side of the falls...there´s not as much to do on the brazilian side in terms of walks round the falls but the view´s still pretty impressive and it´s definitely worth seeing both sides...on the argentinian side you´re really close to the main fall which is cool to see all the water pounding over the edge and all the spray and mist, but you can get a nice ...
