      Nicest hostel so far!

The people are nice (especially the bartender Roberto), the location is good (right around the corner from the bus station and a close walk to plenty of restaurants and tour companies), the amenities are great (a pool with a bar attached and a nice garden area).

      Overall, no complaints

The courtyard was nicely landscaped and had picnic tables and hammocks. There was a pool and a bar at the back. Rooms had air conditioning and rocking chairs outside. I can't speak about the breakfast as we left too early to have it. We stayed in the dorms and the beds were comfortable.

The staff here was very accommodating and nice. They toured us around all their available rooms and made a reservation for us with just a days notice and we got a private room with private bathroom for less money than we paid for a dorm room at another hostel in town. It is a little more quiet and laid back here, but we liked it better that way. The rooms were large, nice, comfortable, and clean. Would definitely recommend.

La Fortuna has a lot of activities to offer- hiking the volcano, zipline tours, rafting and so on...the problem is when it rains it rains and it rained! nevertheless we decided to do a horse riding tour to a waterfall and a "village" of indigene people. Unfortunately the horses where not in the best shape even though we were promised when we booked …

Yesterday was one of those days we spent on routine chores like laundry and trying to make our plans a bit more concrete. Reading travel guides and scouring the internet from the shade of Casa de Papel's patio and jumping in the pool occasionally made it a whole lot easier. In the evening we went to Cafe Liberia, an LP recommendation which was …

It was a rather lazy morning for us, drinking lots of free coffee and munching our way through a box of Oreo cookies while we rocked back and forth on our balcony chairs. We decided last night that we would skip climbing the volcano which was not actually active anymore in terms of constant lava flow. It was the drawcard for the area a few years …

After escaping San Jose, I spent a few amazing days in Arenal where I stayed at an American run hostel which looked like the right place to celebrate Spring break: Palm trees, hammocks and a bar at the pool made it feel like true vacation and after 30 minutes I already formed a group of two Germans student and one professional Danish poker player …
