Wonderful staff, great rooms and a beach

The staff were great, always greeting you by name and in a happy manner. They served fresh coconuts at the bar and the hotel was situated, with a clean pool and hammocks, on the beach. The rooms had A/C and were clean however the rooms on the top floor were nicer.
Although the food wasn't bad, nothing above average, the portion sizes were meagre to the extent I had to have two mains for dinner!
Great for a few days of relaxing on the beach before island hopping and within range of Nadi and some great restaurants by bus.
The only negative was cockroaches in the downstairs shower due to an uncovered drain.

A decent place to stay for one night. Basic and clean facilities with very friendly staff. Nice little pool although the beach is nothing to rave about and a bit dirty, however, this isn't the hotels fault!

We stayed here for 2 nights. The food was great - especially the chocolate cake.

The people were very nice and accomodating. On the first night however the air con leaked, and i was woken to the constant drip drip drip. and the tap in the sink had the macial ability to move about when it was meant to be still....

on the whole though it was fine. it was what we paid for and it suited us.

2 days in Fiji's travellers hub

After a trip round the mainland we had 2 nights to kill before getting out to the Yasawa Isalnds so we went to the Nadi Bay area between the airport and town which is full of of little hostels/hotels of varying levels of quality and size. Aquarius wasn't the cheapest in the group but it was still very cheap. Right on the beach, decent menu (although not the biggest choice the food still more than varied and tasty enough). Nice pool also, and a great view along the beach at sunset.

Staff were freindly and helpful enough although they were a bit slow to do anything (even going on Fiji time), it did get a little frustrating when we were trying to organise our Yasawa Flyer tickets and Coral VIew reservations through their front desk. However, again, nothing to complain about really.

We took a dorm that sleeps four but talked them into keeping it exclusively for us at no extra cost, which they were more than happy to do. The room was clean with good aircon and prvate bathroom, beds squeaked a fair bit but then it was cheap so not exactly a deal breaker.

The gift shop nearby had a good supply of tourist stuff to spend your money on when using up those last Fiji dollars before heading to your next destination, as well as the usual sun creams, snacks, postacards, stamps etc etc etc.

I spent a fair bit of time sipping cocktails in their beach hammocks too, something that most places have here but it was a nice touch nontheless.

All in all it's a decent enough place to spend a night or two in resonable comfort at reasonable expense whilst waiting to transit elswhere. Compared to the standard and facilities offered by the other places in the area, this one seems to sit exactly in the middle which is why I'm giving it a 3/5. It's location is spot on as it's close enough to both the airport and town to be approx FJ$10-15 taxi ride in either direction. The beachfront location plus it's proximity to the other hostels/hotels in the area make it a great place to meet people travelling through Fiji and possibly score some new travel buddies. It is also considerably cheaper than the places around Denarau Marina which are mch more upscale affairs, more for holidays than travellers ;-)

Would I stay here again? Probably yes, although I would be tempted to try some of the other places in the same complex such as Smugglers Cove, just for variety etc.

Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes

    DAY 1: Arriving in Fiji

A travel blog entry by kelsi-rawinia on Oct 29, 2015

So today was the day – Leaving day! After some last minute packing and stress, it was down to the airport about midday for our 2pm flight to Nadi, Fiji. The moment of truth came when we weighed our bags: 23.4kg for Cameron and 23.6kg for me. Maybe a little over the limit but still pretty impressive I think, considering we had to pack for …
