On a roll.....
Want to just make a quick note from my current location. In some ways this is as much for me to look back at as to keep you guys up to date! Ha ha. So, this morning I left my New York hostel and headed for the train station. It was the first time I felt like a proper traveller. I had my big backpack on and my little 'day sac' on my front! I …
Home of US founding fathers & Philly Cheese
A 7am alarm today, our bus was due to depart at 10.30am so we got to the station way too early but we were allowed to catch the 9am bus so that saved us 1.5 hours.
We arrived in the city just after 11am, dropped our bags off at the hostel and had some lunch. On the way to lunch we stopped off at Franklin Court, the site of Benjamin …
It's all about the cheese-steaks
Managed to find my 3rd puma store in Philadelphia, and was definitely the best as they had a 30% off sale over the weekend! bonus! so I went a bit shopping crazy for the last time. The hostel was interesting, it was all clean and modern with a good breakfast, but the male dorm, was really that, went from staying in 4-6 bed rooms for the best part …

Great location only minutes from Independence park and close to subway stations to get about. Off Market and Chestnut streets so no particular noise issues.
The dorm was clean and well organised with free locker of moderate size. Free wifi and towels/linen. No breakfast. Quite a steep climb through narrow stairs to get to the top
Best part about this place was the awesome staff. Very helpful and friendly with advice on just about everything. Movie nights with beer if interested.
Only downers the bathrooms, a shower and 2 toilets were broken during my time, and the showers were subpar with bad pressure and a waterjet like that from a caravan.
