Dorm rooms are a bit small, and toilets are downstairs which can be a wee bit annoying if you are in and upstairs dorm. However apart from these small inconveniences, i loved my stay at antarctica hostel. The staff were brilliant and went out of their way to be helpful. Facilities include towel , beds changed regularly, serviced laundry(advertised at 25 pesos but free if you booked with which comes back neatly folded, socks matched etc. The lounge area was very confortable, and the kitchen well designed with plenty of room. I met lots of great people here. I would definitely recommend this place.

The hostel will get a good review from us, though it was nothing outstanding by any means. But for A$70 pesos per night for a dorm bed, I think they would have to wake me with a gentle massage each morning and have beds made of feathers for me to be really impressed. But Ushuaia is a very expensive town, so that really is as cheap as it gets. Good staff, clean rooms and facilities, and good breakfast also.

We arrived off our long trip (3 buses, 1 ferry) from Puerto Natales to el Fin del Mundo (the 'end of the world') after dark and made our way to our new hostel, Antarctica Hostel, where we were reunited with Jill. We had a plain pasta dinner as the supermarket was closed before going to bed. Dull night!

While in Ushuaia we were submitted to …

...oh wait, it is! Yes, we have reached Ushuaia, which is officially the most southern city in the world. The locals here like calling it exactly that, but in Spanish, of course - 'el fin del mundo', which does sound better. Founded in 1884, this city is only 1,000km away from Antarctica, yet 3,000km away from its own capital, Buenos Aires! We …
