... in Durban is limited. Despite almost constant rain, I've enjoyed walking around the city a bit and visiting several small museums.
Tomorrow I'm heading up into the northern Drakensberg mountains, where I hope the weather will be good enough to hike and ride horseback over the next couple of days.
Well here I am again in Hillcrest. Spent the week, sorting through clothes to take down in to the valley to distribute amongst the orphans. They were distributed on Wednesday, it has been a variety of weather as well...really hot to quite cold......not sure why I am here early, but I learning to take each day as it comes...
Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa dith31... did fine. I lectured on Southern African countries (Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe, Namibia, and Botswana) and then gave my final lecture for Geography 1. It felt good to be almost finished with my lectures.
A lot of people in the group dropped off their laundry at a place just 4 or 5 minutes walk from the hotel while I took Sophia across the street to play on the beach a little. Our bus left at 12:30 for a city tour, starting at the Victoria ...
... humid, after watching the surfing for a good while it became too hot, so we decided to go to one of the cinemas for the air conditioning. Madagascar 2 was the only film we recognised to my delight, not so Robbie. The cinema was incredible, it had the largest screen in the world filling the entire wall from ceiling to floor, the warning beforehand was to possible experience dizziness & those with epilepsy were advised to leave. Even though we bought nothing we ended up ...

When the gold mines had to close for lack of electricity they enjoyed a nice insurance policy - the gold price spiked to compensate for the worlds largest producer being on holiday. Back to Durban, which has no minerals at all, just good farmlands and a large port. The province, the kingdom of our famous Zulu's, has always been a bit behind the times - most of us are too busy enjoying the beaches to worry about much ...

South Africa is really... white. Durban is dangerous at night and there

the afternoon, and even the malls shut down.
... business district of Durban. The building was loop-holed during the Anglo-Zulu War of 1879, bore witness to both the South African Wars and the Bambatha Rebellion, and more recently acted as a recruitment centre and canteen during both World Wars. It was here that African men were given sanction to enter the city or were denied access and had to pay the mandatory Poll Tax. At the ...

Everyone whom I met was very friendly towards me. On Sunday afternoon, friends of Melanie and John's came over for a braai, or barbecue. The husband, Johann, is from the Netherlands, and the wife, Ursula, is from Austria. They have two young children as well. Johann and Ursula met and lived in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, for ...
Mijn god! Ik had me voorbereid. Dus had ik bij me, mijn fleece ...
