Oslo, Oslo, Norway bitenagoolyIt's another sunny day in Oslo. I checked out of the Anker Hostel (pretty decent place, great location), and had a traditional Norwegian breakfast at the hotel next door, consisting of various meats, breads (some were like crackers), cheeses, potatoes, and cole slaw (not sure if that's what they call it here, but that's what it was like). I'm now in the train station, with my big pack safely stowed away in a locker. Tonight I'm taking the night train to Stockholm. I reserved a couchette, so h...

Yet another good journey, and with the
scenery gradually becoming hillier and picturesk, we arrived at the
big hostel. After checking in and after what would be called breaking
and entering into someones room – twice – we made it to our room,
only to be hit by a wave of heat when we opened the door to our digs.
We went and done some laundry, and haggled a cheaper wash off of a
student in the laundrette (the hostel were charging £8 for a
wash and dry, so we...
We made it! After about 24 hours traveling - pretty easy really; flights on time, connections easy, no difficult seat-mates - we arrived in Oslo around midnight last night. We got on the last train to downtown, missing only Lea's backpack which we had discovered was still in London. We checked into Anker Hostel (an easy walk from the train station) - the room is clean, quiet, and spare and/but the lobby is happening - and then slept for about 14 hours. Today we wandered a little through downt...

Oslo, Norway oconnorbrenHello! I'm starting to question my sanity in leaving a cold country like Canada to come visit an equally cold country! Oh well...what doesn't kill me will make me stronger... This is my second time in Oslo [I think that I prefered it last time as it was warm...] The first thing that comes to mind is Mcdonald's, Burger King and 7-Eleven's! They seem to have spawned here and they are everywhere! Oslo is famous for being expensive and trust me, it is not exagerated in the slightest! Pizza's are ...
Oslo, Norway papayaprincessFirst day, time to leave. This is at this moment that who realise what's really going on. Before this time it's only words. Who say you will go away be you didn't realise how it's going to be. But when the d-day arrive.....wow......it's not words anymore! Taking my bags at the airport, check in, boarding, ........... and sat in the plan. It was strange because in the same time I was feeling excited and also afraid !? ... hours. I arrived to the airport, no problem and way on time. In fact, I was at the hotel so early (I was there before 5 A.M., around 4:30 to be exact) that none of the airplane check in stands were open, nor were any of the airport services active. At first I began to worry about whether or not I was going to be able to get my tickets in time since no one was around, but I found an automated Lufthansa check in machine ...
Oslo, Norway swisherd... Boy, what four months living here and another semester of Norwegian language can do to help boost my confidence. :o) These past two days in Oslo have been truly wonderful, in more ways just than the weather (it's been glorious blue skies with temps around 75-80)! In a way, it's like coming home for me-I know my way around these streets, my favorite coffee places, my favorite places to visit. And being here with Claudia just enhances the ...
