Very welcoming, with good Internet and underfloor heating! Breakfast is great and there is a well equipped kitchen for all other meals. The restaurant around the corner does amazing lamb dishes. When in Patagonia!

Loved this hostel - up there with some of the best hostels I've ever stayed in. Friendly, clean comfortable rooms, hot showers, helpful staff, beautifully heated, close enough to town, great views from room and common areas!

Really beautiful, lofty but natural place. Professional crew, clean rooms and sanitary. A bit more expensive than other hostels in town & a bit furtther away, but it's worth it. Enjoy!

We turned up with no booking and was kindly given the loft to sleep for the first night. This hostel is a little walk from town, but its warm, and they have a great all you can eat bbq for 70 pesos. There is a beautiful view at sunset, perfect with wine and cheese, the wooden framing gave it a country feel and the staff were extremely friendly, It felt like a home, not a hostel...

How´s the serenity, The sunset from our hostel.

Patagonia; what a joyous marvel, a wonderful highlight of South America! I cannot believe that on several occasions I considered boycotting the south for various reasons including distances and weather.

Well, I've had an interesting time here that's for sure! After catching the 4am flight from Buenos Aires to el Calafate on no sleep for fear of missing my flight, I took the shuttle bus (100 pesos) directly to my hostel- America del Sur. It's lovely and warm and has beautiful views across the lake, dotted with pink flamingos and the beautiful snow …

As i say, El calafate is a place i can imagine myself living. Lovely little main high street, not incomparable to cheltenhams finest. Except this one has wooden chalet style shops, all low rise and with hut filled passageways seling souvenirs and wool products. Took a long leisurely walk around to pass the morning. Not a big place but still managed …

I arrived in El Calafate after a quick flight from Puerto Madryn (the bus trip would have taken me over a day including a change over - it was an easy decision). I had the option of heading further south to Ushuaia, one of the furthest points in Argentina and in South America, but I didn't feel it was needed on this occasion.
