... it was a bus station. In the center of the city. From the looks of it, I was very much outside the city.

I looked over to the boy next to me and told him where I needed to be. He looked at me with a blank look on his face and then nervously giggled.

"Es muy lejos?"
"Ahh...si. Lejos."

... the small, but beautifully presented rooms. As had become our habit, we then took a late breakfast, this time at a pavement cafe at the Puerta Alcala - Madrid's equivalent to the Arc de Triomph (but on a much smaller scale….to be honest, virtually everything in Madrid is on a much smaller scale - compared to Paris, London or Rome - which makes it so easy to get around).

... and early 20th Century when Gran Via was expanded to be as it now is. We walked to Cibeles Palace, formerly the central post office, but now a beautiful Exibition Center dedicated to the history of Madrid and contemporary art exibits. Today, I spent the full day in Madrid. I walked around, experienced the culture and have grown to like this city. Although, I will say it still does not beat Barcelona. Spain has a lot of history.
