Great week with lots of experience! After one night and half a day in the city I went to a great helpx host 50ks outside if town. I went to the Victoria market which is huge! Then I spend the rest of my time at the host. It was awesome. To put it in one sentence, I had interesting conversations, movie night, art/ farmers market, walks in the nature …

Melbourne & Great Ocean Road

I visited Melbourne twice, while I was in Australia. Melboune, one of the most livable cities of the world, is my favorite city of Australia. It is home to Victorian Market, Victorian Library, Chinatown, St. Kilda, Flinders Street Station, RMIT English International, Crown Casino, Great Ocean Road, Yarra River, Tourist Information Centre, …

Melbourne's bustling CBD

We got up early to enjoy the Melbourne rush hour. Yohei and I jostled with the commuters, and, like them, we went into an independent coffee shop, for a quick flat white. Even within Australia, Melburnians are famous for loving coffee and they are very unwelcoming to the large chains. In London you could hold your breath walking between Starbucks …

Rainforests, Koalas, Surfers and into Melbourne

I'll keep today fairly brief as I'm behind on my entries, but here goes. At the start of the day we continued our tour of the limestone formations along the Great Ocean Road, which was very placid and far more beautiful early in the morning, when you are still calm and there are few people around.  We then headed up in to a strange area of …

Melbourne wooooooo........

A travel blog entry by jennybaulktrip

So this is where I currently am in Melbourne!! Well actually I am sat on a PC in St Kilda which is a 10min tram ride from Melbourne. It has a beach and some nice little cafe and bars. In fact this is where I came last night for drinks with a couple of girls (Theresa who I met on tour and her couch surfing host Mel).

When I arrived in …

Great service at reception and a great central location, but, old, dirty, no atmosphere. Stayed for as little time as possible.

Good for a night or two

Stayed here on two separate occasions. First time was for 4 nights and had a large room for 4 girls. Nice to have so much space. The second time, the room was very small and there was a girl basically living in the room. She had clothes hanging wet on a clothing rack taking up half of the room as well as pots and pans in a box beside the door. So in turn it was very difficult for myself and the other two girls in the room to open our bags or get comfortable at all. Can't blame the hostel for this particular girl, but would recommend if someone is staying for an extended to time to be put in a larger room. It was the same price both times I stayed there and had two very different sized rooms.
The female washroom was decent and the mattresses were very comfortable. Kitchen was a little tight.
I would recommend for short term stay only.
