It was my first hostel and didn't really know what to expect. At first, I thought it was a bit threadbare, but after staying in other places later on, I now realise that that is the norm. The staff and other guests were friendly and it was away from the centre of town, but not too far. The only catch was having to cross the compound in the middle of the night to use the toilet - who knew what was lurking out there! However, definitely recommended.

It is a very small hostel, quiet and relaxed. If you want a party hostel then this isn't it. Rooms are clean but whilst I was there Alice Springs had an invasion of mice so they were around the place. Big kitchen, female bathroom and friendly staff working there.

Tonight's dinner in Kings Canyon is spaghetti bolognese with a twist. It turns out Josh didn't read the packets when he bought the mince and accidentally bought chicken mine instead. Oh well it still tastes good. After dinner I whip out the marshmallows I bough from the shop earlier, it's our last night with a camp fire & I thought it would be …

          UP THE MIDDLE

          ... decided to do it.

After Uluru we carried on 44 km to the Olgas (Kata Tjuta) and although we didn’t do the Valley of the Wind walk we did do the Waipa gorge.

We arrived in Alice Springs and spent the next 4 days preparing the ute and ourselves for our 4wheel drive camping adventure through the Kimberleys.

The highlights of that will be in the next Travelpod instalment!
